IYO does this mean they’re religious, just grateful, mindful of the offer (blessed) bestowed, were brought up to be respectful, etc.

I like to think it is an acknowledging of the Good blessings of The God of Heaven. They testify (in so saying) that HE has been sooooo good, and it is HE that gives them the blessings and abilities they are endowed with.
