Interesting list. The best college football programs all time

Jan 17, 2018, 12:14 PM

according to the AP as of 2018.

Rank Teams Points Previous Rank
1 Oklahoma 1160 1
2 Alabama 1038 2
3 Ohio State 1029 3
4 Michigan 973 4
5 Notre Dame 954 5
6 USC 832 6
7 Nebraska 783 7
8 Texas 772 8
9 Tennessee 686 9
10 Penn State 685 10
11 LSU 633 11

14 Florida State 563 12

T22 Washington 363 22
T22 Wisconsin 363 24
24 Ole Miss 347 23
25 Georgia Tech 343 25

I have no idea why they put Arkansas (1 natty claimed -1964-less bowl wins and less all time wins than Clemson) or UCLA (1 natty awarded by UPI -1954- less bowl wins and less all time wins than Clemson) ahead of Clemson and Michigan State seems to have gotten the nod because they "claim " 5 national titles (only 1 was outright-1952) although in many respects Clemson has done better.

This is the list of the best teams of the 1950s according to the AP. Pretty darn good for "Clemson College" ! Ole Frank took care of business!

I counted 10 ACC teams ahead of SCAR on that list.

Clemson should be 17th. We have a way better history than UCLA, Arkansas, and Michigan State. LSU, Auburn, and Georgia are a little high, I'd put all the Florida schools ahead of them.

The Tigers have a pretty good record against those teams ahead of them. Without checking the records I believe we have beaten eleven of these teams that we have played. I remember a loss to usc when I was in school. Not sure about Fla. or Penn State. Have we beaten those two? Oklahoma, the number one team has had a rough time with the Tigers
