Trevor seems to have had a home environment that prepared him well for the pressure, success and adulation he is experiencing. I found this online interview in which his mother, Amanda Lawrence, discusses the challenges of raising young men.

She says: "There will be hard times. Just as sure as you’re on top you can be on bottom. Football won’t last forever; and when that’s gone, who are you? Don’t let it become your identity. He knows that life is full of ups and downs and learning. They’re going to make mistakes. We try to teach the difference in life changing mistakes (DUI’s for example) vs. learning mistakes."

Thanks for the link to this article. I love the idea of teaching kids the difference between Life Changing mistakes vs Learning mistakes.
I remember trying to get my sons to plan ahead for the times when you are faced with decisions in front of peers. Have that excuse/reason to not participate in dangerous behavior already in mind. If you've thought about, and decided beforehand, it's easier to stick with your moral decisions.
