Interesting ESPN Question: GOAT: Brady vs Jordan
Jan 26, 2018, 12:56 PM
|
|
Interesting question on ESPN on who is the greatest male athlete of all time: Michael Jordan or Tom Brady? I'm sure there are a lot of valid arguments to be made for others. Putting those aside, who would you take; Jordan or Brady?
I say Jordan without any hesitation. Brady has ice water in his veins but Jordan always made my jaw drop AND he has ice water in his veins. I don't even think its close; Jordan by a landslide. But, that's the great thing about opinions; everyone's got one.

As do I, but Clementines and Mandarins are hands down the best. Easy to peel, Seedless, great flavor year around and miniature size means you can take fit them into your cargo pants pockets.

The second word in that statement is athlete. Brady isn't even the best athlete on his team. Best Leader, Winner, or supermodel husband then he has a chance. Jordan could excel at any sport or position because he was an athlete.

If you are only judging athleticism, Bo Jackson would be the greatest football and baseball player of all time and Lebron would probably be the greatest NBA player (he isn't too far off as it is).

The article says "Greatest American Male Athlete of all time". I agree with you that it is not only athleticism, but making a claim like that it has to be a major factor. We have seen lots of "greats" over the years, but if it simply being great at one thing then Tiger Woods could challenge either.
Greatness is about a lot of things and usually the mental aspects are what sets people apart. As great a mind as Brady has for the game he simply can't compete athletically with the best.

Their job titles are "Professional Athletes."
Has nothing to do with athleticism, and you could argue the person with the greatest athleticism of all time would be someone in track and field or another sport that is 100% based on athleticism.

Yes, being the greatest male athlete of all time has nothing to do with athleticism. Thank you for clearing that up.

Brady say on another good team but without Belicheck

a good qb, not a great one. Put him on Pitt or Indy or Denver. decent. Belicheck is like Saban, pretty much a genius.
Jordan made that team.

Brady on Pitt or Denver would win the super bowl for sure. The bulls would have been a playoff team without MJ. Also Phil Jackson was an okay coach himself

I just don't see how that statement can be made, there

simply isn't enough evidence of that.
Without Brady playing Belichick's W-L record is 54-63, with Brady he is 196-55, for a total of 250-118.
Classic case of chicken and egg, and unfortunately we will never know if Brady could win somewhere else, but we do know that Belichick couldn't.
Also, if Denver could win a super bowl with their defense and a limping to retirement Peyton then how can you say Brady wouldn't win with them, and Pitt? Really? Give Brady actual top players and they wouldn't lose.
I think it's a bit of both, Brady is great because of Belichick and Belichick is great because of Brady. To suggest either of them would not thrive without the other one is non-sense.

Brady would set records that would never be broken if he had a supporting cast of Brown, Martavis, Smith-Schuster, and Le'Veon Bell.

Neither one wouldn’t be close without their teams backing them up.
DW4 has the potential to be in this group. Need to get a defense in Houston.

Their teams to multiple championships. What Brady is doing on a 11 man team is pretty jaw dropping. Maybe it’s coaching but he’s pretty amazing.
I say that as a person that was jaw dropped by Jordan.
