Ingram v Branch

Apr 27, 2012, 2:51 AM

To the guy who was talking a ton of noise a few months back about how much better Branch was than Ingram ---

Care to admit you were wrong?

I wasnt the guy but im gonna say this ingram is a talent and so is branch as far as their nfl careers it will depend on how SD uses ingram and how he adapts to what they want of him and same can be said of Branch who will more then likely be drafted as a 3-4 rush olb as well. So no one will or can admit to anything. Now scurry on and try to troll elsewhere.

One more thing their college sack stats werent far off either and Branch only played 2 seasons at clemson while ingram played all four years at Scar.

Branch - 17.5 Ingram-21.5

Ingram played 2 years as a DE.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Care to admit you're a DA?

Apr 27, 2012, 4:29 AM

Since when does getting selected higher make you the better player? Was it because Ty Warren, Michael Haynes, J.McDougle, Calvin Pace, Tyler Brayton, and Chris Kelsay were all DE's drafted ahead of Osi Umenyiora?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

SD GM has made many poor moves in recent years....

Apr 27, 2012, 7:16 AM

I think when (shorty) Ingram flops as expected it may end his career in SD.

Its laughable in cootville when you know that there is a True Freshman WR (Sammy Watkins) at Clemson that would if he could, would have been drafted a head of your best of all time WR Alshon (bad attitude coot) Jeffery. You coots have finally found out that the Tooth Ferry, Santa Claus, and Alshon Jeffery were all just a ferry tail. Silly coots!!!

Ever heard of Sterling Sharpe.

Re: Ingram v Branch

Apr 27, 2012, 9:22 AM

That is past history. Coots believe that what ever happen before their 2 or 3 decent years of success doesn't count....

Sorry, thought by all time the poster meant all time. Not sure how I could have misinterpreted that so badly.

dang, talking out both sides of your mouth

May 2, 2012, 5:20 PM

never would have thought a usuck fan would stoop to that level.

I don't care what Thetis stats are Ingram is a straight up baller

I alway knew he was a good player, just didn't really give him much attention until this past year when he had the few big time highlight plays

However, I saw that sports science episode on Ingram an two things jump off the screen and slapped me across the face

1. Dude can bust out a standing back flip at 275lbs

2. He can dunk a basketball on a 10' goal and he is no more than 6'2"

Guys...that take and incredible, off the charts amount of athleticism

if you drink beer at the clemson/usuck games and we both are there ( and sammy and doo-doo both leave the same yr.) i'll take that for a 6-pak, and winner makes the choice of brands.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree with you...

May 2, 2012, 5:49 PM [ in reply to Re: Ingram v Branch ]

But only because great pass rushers are the most coveted outside of a great QB or great OT.

Doesn't mean he'll be better at his position, though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ingram is faster, stronger, quicker, and plays every down.

Apr 27, 2012, 9:26 AM

Ingram is one of the reasons they dominated us up front last year.

jg, have you gone over to the dark side? just wondering because the recent posts that you have made presents a great argument for that thought.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Both are great talents

Apr 27, 2012, 9:36 AM

I think Ingram is more athletic for his size than Branch. Overall, Ingram probably had the better year but both were one-year wonders. Branch fits more of the mold of a pass-rushing OLB in a 3-4 while Ingram is a little more versatile. I don't think there is a big difference talent-wise though

Re: Ingram v Branch

Apr 27, 2012, 6:58 PM

Both are studs and, as someone else mentioned, getting drafted ahead of someone doesn't necessarily make you a better college player than that person.

However....with that said, I would give Ingram the nod over Branch since Ingram was a Consensus 1st Team All-American this past season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

well

Apr 27, 2012, 7:31 PM

high 2nd isn't bad

gotta say tho that neutral experts significantly prefer ingram

Re: Re: Ingram v Branch

No one in their right mind would dispute ingram being an incredible athlete. That being said sports science is bro science and i dont put alot of stock in bro science. Its pointless to argue this because both players are very good athletes and natural pass rushers. I will say this Ingram is better against the run.

Ingram was a 4-star recruit and the #21 outside linebacker in 2007.

Branch was a 2-star recruit and an unranked outside linebacker in 2007.

Ingram was picked 18th.

Branch was picked 38th.

I would say at this point Ingram did a little better but not by much. 10 years from now Branch may be having a Hall of Fame career and no one may remember Ingram. You just never know!
