They opted for a contract that provided more non-pay related benefits. THEY CHOSE TO MAKE LESS MONEY, INSTEAD HAVING MEDICAL, RETIREMENT, ETC. Now they want the money, too. Idiots.

It’s tough to overcome the scumbags that run soccer. Huge scumbags at the US National level and Leviathan level scumbags at the international level.
The history of the USWNT is the history of the greatest women’s soccer teams in the history of the sport. It’s not close, it’s not debatable. That those teams have been paid a pittance is a disgrace. FIFA and US Soccer are run by men that would fit perfectly into society in Saudi Arabia.
The hierarchy within soccer is corrupt to the bone and it’s been that way for at least half a century. It starts in Europe, but it’s infiltrated every corner of that sport. It should be burned to the ground and started over, it’s not salvageable.

They're only the greatest team in history because of the support they've received from US Soccer and Title IX compared to the rest of the world.
Now that the rest of the world is starting to fund women's soccer, their days of dominance are waning.

Uh...no. The USWNT's days of dominance are waning the way Clemson's dominance is waning.
The rest of the world is making strides, granted. Spain and England, traditional powerhouses, are particularly showing massive improvement - Spain plays some tremendous possession soccer, and has out-possessed the US girls 2-to-1 in recent games - but at the end of the day, the USA has still won the last two World Cups and the younger players are if anything better than the older ones.
I have an incredible crush on Rose Lavelle in particular. She's just 24 and is the female version of Ronaldo, and is easily the most electric female soccer player I've ever seen. You watch people try to stop her and it's like watching Wile E. Coyote trying to stop the Roadrunner.

Then you've got other players like Lindsey Horan - just 25 - who has the size and raw power of Abby Wambach, who pretty much bullied her way to 184 International goals - but if Lavelle wasn't around Horan would be the #10 string-puller and not the #9 striker because she's that good on the ball; Wambach couldn't dribble to save her own life.
The team is so loaded they're literally playing Kelly O'Hara and Crystal Dunn at right and left back just to get them on the field. These are world-class players who can dribble, create, and have blazing speed...and on any other teams they'd be wingers or even strikers because they're just that dynamic and dangerous on the ball.
The US women's team has been dominant before, but this generation that's just now coming to the forefront is easily the best I've ever seen. The world's got some work to do to make them "wane".

So these patriarchal men running US Soccer don't understand the evolving nature of any employment agreement made with women?
The judge found that 1) women were paid according to their agreement; and 2) they were actually paid more per match than the MNT.
This USWNT has set the reputation of female athletes back by at least a decade. Mia Hamm once said, "We are not just women; we are professional athletes. " But last summer Alex i-need-to-have-a-cause Morgan, who objectifies herself by doing bikini photoshoots, told the Espys crowd, "We are not just professional athletes; we are women."
So what are they? And what are they going to want to be next year? And if I'm always going to be wrong because they keep changing what they think they are, why should I care?

Whole bunch of passionate, angry insecure guys in this thread.
Sounds like the WNT is stuck playing under the current terms of their agreement, but needs to negotiate differently in the future. Besides the Dream Team in basketball, the WNT has been the most consistently dominant US sport program (though less money generated worldwide from the women’s sport).
Would enjoy more if the MNT played better.

Equality comes from treating each other with respect. Trust. Keeping your word.

their team to promote her agenda. I’m sure some of them were all for it, but I’d be surprised if some of them didn’t secretly resent it. Look what’s happened. They are the most dominant team in women’s soccer, and many people can’t stand them now. I know, some people love them for their bold stances...how many of those people wouldn’t have loved them just for being bad ### women soccer players?
For the record, I loved watching the women’s team until the past few years. Amazing, aggressive, attacking soccer. It was great, and compared to our listless and identity-less men’s team, it was night and day.
Many professional athletes have turned me off to sports, but none worse than the incredible politicized whine-fest that women’s soccer became. And to find out that it was all a mirage? Ridiculous.
I wonder how much endorsement money was missed by members of that team because their collective brand was so politicized.

The whole Kungflu thing is a golden opportunity for sports to get out of the politics business when events are allowed to go on as usual. Politics can at times be dull, boring. stupid, and just plain suck. Why people decided it had to be constantly dragged into sports eludes me. I, as with many political junkies watch sports to get away from the suck. Hope they let us do that again.
