Athletes don’t get any” of that money.

Not one d&$@ person complaining about what Dabo makes would be willing to take the path he took to get to where he is today. And, by the way, not just take the path, but be dang good at it. It took him years, lots of hard work, sacrifices, and risky decisions to get to this point in his life.
Instead they want instant reward without working for it.
College gives you the opportunity to showcase your talents and if you work hard and are good at it, you will be rewarded too.

Many of the same people saying those words are the same ones screaming that "you can't talk to that young boy that way" when a coach jumps a player.

I'm fine if people want salaries for college athletes and want to push that agenda, even though I don't agree with it for the most part.

I'm fine if people want college athletes treated with kid gloves when they mess up, even though I don't agree with that for the most part either.

What I am really not ok with is when people want college athletes paid like they are grown and working a job and then also call them young men or children when they don't like how they are being talked to.

You can't have it both ways. Strive to be treated like an adult or strive to be treated like a child. Pick one and stick with it.

I will pick the child. There is another league for the adults. I don’t like that brand of football so don’t create 2 versions of that brand.

Glad you’re not a drill sergeant with recruits the same age as our football players. God help America if you were.

Just because you get paid doesn't mean that your grown, it just means you have worth. Macaulay Culkin got paid a lot when he was a kid.

Are you saying people who don't get paid, don't have worth?

There are many volunteers around the world who work for absolutely no compensation.

You may want to choose another example besides McCauley. That situation didn't turn out so well.

It's a different discussion but I would guess that Clemson football players get "paid" upwards of $50,000 a year which is spent for them as tuition, living space, food, Pell grants (in pocket money), and other things.

There may be 5% percent whose "worth" is not covered by that amount. Clemson is most likely on the high side of that percentage when compared to teams around the country.

Also I never used the word "grown". I used adult, and being treated as an adult means being compensated for work done.

Children are told what to do.
Adults or those young people acting like adults typically reach an agreement on a fair exchange. Work for compensation. The problem is that many people are ignoring the $50,000+ I mentioned above and pretending that college athletes are free labor.

I am a former college athlete who is now qualified to get paid to work based on the exchange I made of playing a sport for a degree.

In a time where a college degree is almost mandatory to get a career, college athletes and their advocates are trying to pretend that a degree is worthless.

Very strange in my mind.
