When do the mask benefits kick in?

Most of the experts seem to think 3-4 weeks

of widespread usage will flatten the trends we are seeing.

When people stop being stupid

Jul 14, 2020, 3:16 PM

Here is why I am adamant that people are stupid, you are free to disagree . On 6/19 we had 6 Covid patients in the hospital, today we have 64. Our ICU is filled, they opened up 8 more rooms as makeshift ICU's. Out of those patients in ICU 50% are on ventilators. We have no room at the inn for any surgeries, to include heart surgery. Why? Because people are frigging stupid.

I watch people refuse free masks daily, I watch them gather in groups not wearing masks. I have lost the ability to even sympathize with them as I can only shake my head and steer clear. I frigging no longer care what their reasons are for not wearing masks, I have come to the conclusion that they have willfully chosen to be stupid after all that has been written and said, discounting the Donald's dookie. If one choses to follow a fool then one gets a fools consequences.

Re: When do the mask benefits kick in?

Jul 14, 2020, 3:18 PM

Past 3 days our positivity rate has been right at 50%. When out only about 1/2 are wearing masks and bars/restaurants are packed.

So are the mask ordinances a waste of time if

Jul 14, 2020, 3:26 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Unfortunately, I think we are on the road to that scenario

Jul 14, 2020, 3:27 PM

happening. I hope it does not.

Jul 14, 2020, 3:37 PM [ in reply to So are the mask ordinances a waste of time if ]

I do not care, stupid should hurt, like a lot. Seems Muricans are unable to follow recommendations so shut the shyte down. If we as a people are too frigging stupid then the govt. has to step in to force it on us .

Now outside of a few white folks almost all the black folks have been masked up when I go to stores. Gotta give them a shout out for being good citizens.

I care

Same boat here, it is why I am really frigging ticked off. Except it’s me instead of my kid.

Re: I care

Jul 14, 2020, 3:55 PM

When I said I do not care I was referring to shutting down again

I can not be expected to differentiate the minor nuances in their handles. Instead I just dismiss it as some crazy person talking to themselves.

Jul 14, 2020, 4:20 PM

Well, I would beg to differ.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Had to go to a Walmart yesterday, N95'd and gloved up cause

Jul 14, 2020, 3:29 PM [ in reply to Re: When do the mask benefits kick in? ]

that was my Walmart routine pre-Covid.

They had only one entrance open, to enforce the mask rules. They weren't enforcing the mask rules and simply shut down another entry/exit to ensure everyone would pass through the same corridor. Seems counterproductive, but I'm no epidemiologist.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think a lot of that kind of thing comes down from

Jul 14, 2020, 3:31 PM

corporate, but on a local level, it's probably really inconsistent on how it's actually managed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Anything like that in a Walmart is definitely from corporate

Jul 14, 2020, 3:33 PM

But this has been a practice at Lowe's and Home Depots as well. It's like they don't really think about the effects of their decisions. It's more about theater than actually preventing or keeping anyone safe IMO.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, sure...I guess what I mean is that...

Jul 14, 2020, 3:34 PM

It's easy to put a sign on a door and close it because corporate said to. It's another thing for a floor manager to take an employee and station them to do a task. It takes some effort on the part of the local employees.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed. And Walmart greeters simply aren't paid enough to

Jul 14, 2020, 3:35 PM

become bouncers when angry rednecks and antivaxxers refuse to take the free mask at the door.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Local grocery store did the same thing but worse

Jul 14, 2020, 3:36 PM [ in reply to Had to go to a Walmart yesterday, N95'd and gloved up cause ]

they were suppose to have a entrance and an exit. They just shut down one entrance/exit so everybody had to bump shoulders going through the other one.

Then they only had one register open so the line is down the isle with people in line 6 foot apart. then people trying to get by bumping into the 6ft apart people.

Idiots.

Re: When do the mask benefits kick in?

Jul 14, 2020, 3:41 PM

It will take a month or two after the masses all start wearing them. That's according to Fauci. After that we have to get those infected and those close to them who end up infected to cycle out and for the masses to start wearing them. Right now we are at square 1. We really havent gone all in as a nation yet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sure don't see a high % of ppl wearing them in Anderson***

While masked and in a local grocer and cafe I noticed employees wearing them, but under their noses.

Re: When do the mask benefits kick in?

Jul 14, 2020, 4:06 PM

On July 11 a girl less than 5 years old died from Covid-19 in Chester County, SC.

It's very rare for children that age die of this virus, but it does happen. 2 teens in Florida last month.

So, according to the CDC 40% of the identified cases in the last month are asymptomatic. They don't know they have it but they still carry it and infect others.

I haven't been tested so I wear a mask because I don't want to hurt anyone.
I don't want to catch it and I don't want to give it.

Re: If you haven't gotten sick the mask benefit has kick in?

Jul 14, 2020, 4:07 PM

I'm concerned with me. Everyone else should be concerned with themselves. If I didn't want to wear a mask I wouldn't wear one. I do because even with keeping away from people I can still go out without freaking out.
