Clemson-LSU game ranked #2 best bowl

and they have Outback bowl as Number 1..

Jan 9, 2013, 12:36 PM

Let me take a stab at the reasoning here. In Outback bowl an SEC team won and the former Peach bowl the sec team lost...am i getting Warm? bc the most watched non-Bcs bowl game EVER on espn was the Chick-Fil-A bowl, I didn't see outback get those ratings.

I think throwing a 40 TD yard pass with 11 seconds remaining

Jan 9, 2013, 1:37 PM

trumps a FG with no time left.

I can see that.

The CFA Bowl was much more than the last second FG

Jan 9, 2013, 1:48 PM

The fourth quarter alone made that game insane. And hell, LSU had already blocked an extra point attempt. That kick was far from a given.

It was a fantastic game but the Outback had several

Jan 9, 2013, 2:12 PM

lead changes...it's a legitimate argument either way.

The poster I responded to said they voted it #1 because the SEC won, which is nutty.

Splitting hairs here, but it was a 32-yard TD pass, which

Jan 9, 2013, 1:58 PM [ in reply to I think throwing a 40 TD yard pass with 11 seconds remaining ]

means they were in FG range. If they don't complete that pass, they were still in position to win the game.

Our play was "do or die", theirs was not.

Maybe, so, I didn't think their kicker had much range

Jan 9, 2013, 2:10 PM

though.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They were SUPPOSED to beat Michigan

Jan 9, 2013, 2:25 PM [ in reply to I think throwing a 40 TD yard pass with 11 seconds remaining ]

We're celebrating a team almost getting beaten, but finally coming back to do what they were favored to do all along?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think they were just voting on the best game. It doesn't

Jan 9, 2013, 3:24 PM

matter the spread, etc.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

of course you can Joe, I would be shocked if you thought

Jan 9, 2013, 2:27 PM [ in reply to I think throwing a 40 TD yard pass with 11 seconds remaining ]

otherwise

what a bunch of BS!!!

Re: Football Update: Clemson-LSU game ranked #2 best bowl

Jan 9, 2013, 12:37 PM

More SEC BS!!!!!!!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Without #7's hit it was lame. SC should've lost.***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The fact that the underdog never led, yet won the game as

Jan 9, 2013, 1:53 PM

time expired makes it #1 in my opinion.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty cool that we never led while the clock was running.

Jan 10, 2013, 9:49 AM

I think the clock expired before the ball went through the goalposts.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They were both great games

Jan 9, 2013, 2:07 PM

I can see an argument either way. Just from the view in my office in Atlanta...EVERYONE was talking about the Outback (and especially the hit and first down call) and most mentioned the Peach as "yeah that was a great game to". these are all Dawgs and Jackets.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would Georgia fans watch the Outback bowl?

Jan 9, 2013, 2:13 PM

They played at the exact same time. That argument doesn't even make sense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm a USC fan...

Jan 9, 2013, 2:19 PM

..and I watched both with a ton of Dawgs around. Down here in Atlanta we call them "sports bars".

The way it works is this: there are a ton of TV's showing everyone's games so fans of all allegiances can gather in a common spot and watch their game while conversing with their friends. While this is going on, bartenders pour cold beers and waitresses bring you delicious eats. At the Taco Mac I watched at, there were at least 800 folks in the place.

It's not a new phenomenon but, apparently, this concept has yet to reach Death Valley, SC.

you i meant :)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Team almost gets upset by inferior opponent, and that's #1?

Jan 9, 2013, 2:27 PM [ in reply to They were both great games ]

Cracks me up. SCAR should have rung Michigan like a bell, yet a last minute squeaker over a vastly inferior team is being ranked #1.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So Clemson beating a team they weren't supposed to

Jan 9, 2013, 2:35 PM

on a last second FG great football, But SC playing a Michigan team playing their behinds off and pulling out the victory at the last second after several lead changes and the refs trying to put the fix in is bad? Yeah the team you wanted to win didn't, but the game was fantastic, back and forth and had a few game changing moments like a punt return score, the refs, the hit, the last second touchdown by the back-up QB after converting a 4th down...

Clemson overcame adversity and played lights out. Had a fantastic game and pull out the victory on a last second FG after converting 4th and a mile. Great game as well. I don't know which *I* think is better, but I know they were both good football games.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Unfortunately I would say outback first then the chick-fil-a

Jan 9, 2013, 2:28 PM

If the refs don't screw up the first down call. I say the chick-fil-a bowl would be first. Just wish it could have been michigan winning.

Rankings presented on CBSSportsline.com ...

Jan 9, 2013, 2:36 PM

CBS aired Outback Bowl ... Rank it #1 ... Logic is simple ... CBS is like Spurrier; they LOVE themselves.

Duke bowl #4 was bowl season really that bad

Jan 9, 2013, 3:20 PM

but people do enjoy train wrecks so maybe they are right.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow. This is sad

Jan 9, 2013, 5:35 PM

bunch of cb$EC homers.

Not about putting the coots first, but the way they discredited the win and Dabo in the article. Pathetic
