I'll start the old discussion again

Oct 11, 2016, 6:19 AM

Early, I know, but it's going to get more and more relevant:

It's too crowded at the top. We need an 8 team playoff.

I agree, take 1 week off before plays & 1 week before CG and still finish 1st week of Feb.

No, we can't continue to boast about education at Clemson...

Oct 11, 2016, 7:42 AM

we disrupt our student athletes' education.

Most of our guys will be in school taking a great work-load of their classwork. They take light loads during the fall, usually just enough to get by. They try to squeeze a full semester out of the now very short summers.

Imo, if we are going to have a bigger playoff we're going to have to figure out how to do it and finish during the break between semesters. Most of these kids are depending on their education to get them through life, the others are planning on preparing for the combine during February. Our guys give too much now, we can't ask for more.

Div III cares more about academics and has a 32-team playoff

Oct 11, 2016, 8:51 AM

But it starts before Thanksgiving. 10 regular season games, no conference championship.

Go to 4 Super Conferences, and have the conference championships be the first round.

I guess the education of 1-aa students doesn't matter with

Their 20 game playoff

Oct 11, 2016, 7:30 AM

No. All these games make no sense. I want the regular season to mean something. Not "oh hey we can slip up one game and because we're Clemson were probably gonna still make the playoff.

16 games? Someone better be getting ready to pay these young men(which I'm sure in time this will chance as well)

8 is to many. It Let's the weaklings in .

4 isn't enough? It use to be 2 and only 2 teams, if you got left out that's just how it was. Better make sure you win all your ballgames

good case, you stated

Oct 11, 2016, 8:28 AM

I don't agree, but good job anyway. :)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

4 only allows the SEC to lose one and still get in. Because bias.

Oct 11, 2016, 8:56 AM [ in reply to Re: I'll start the old discussion again ]

We have to be perfect. 8 would be more fair.

Oct 11, 2016, 9:12 AM

Not true. We can lose, just not to an undefeated Louisville or fsu.

If Clemson was to slip up against anyone other than those two teams, depending on how the loss looked we would still make it(more than likely)

A one loss Clemson ACC champion (1 minor slip up to ___insert name--- still gets in.

And if you don't think losing to Alabama was tough.

just try winning two playoff games and THEN losing the championship.

That would be horrendous , and I do not know how I'd recover.

It will thin out before long.

Oct 11, 2016, 7:34 AM

You can't say that we didn't get a true champion last year. Imo, the POC did their jobs and did them well. It all worked as planned and every team worthy of taking a shot got their shot at the NC game.

Personally, I think the PlayOff Committee should be in charge of officiating.

Name a year they possibly got it wrong .

2003 Aurbun comes to mind. Other than that can't think of any

We didn't have a 4 team playoff in 2003.***

Yea I know, we had the good ol BCS! If they would of had the 4 team playoff back then in 03', Auburn would of made it!

The way it is now is golden. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Hence NAME A YEAR A deserving team Was LEFT Out. SOMEJUAN, anyjuan

Oct 11, 2016, 9:19 AM [ in reply to Re: It will thin out before long. ]

Committee so far has gotten it right but Ohio State winning proves it was a little bit of luck. TCU and Baylor had a claim that we never got to see play out.

As far as the BCS it got it wrong multiple years and is mainly to blame for the SEC title run.

I think the playoff system is perfect. The problem is having 5 conferences. We only have about 64 teams who can truly compete at this level shrink them down into 4 conferences with 8 team divisions and you have the makings of a true championship.

I dunno, I'd argue

Oct 11, 2016, 8:30 AM [ in reply to It will thin out before long. ]

that for sure some team or two got shorted b/c Okie was basically a fraud. I don't remember who was on the fringe last year, but I remember they were probably better than OK.

Re: I'll start the old discussion again

If we could get down to 4 power conferences... the conference champ game could be the 8 team semi final... but the big 12 would have to completely fall apart.

The season is only halfway over. It will sort itself out

Right . Drop the conference championship games and ....
No , that won't work .
Reduce the schedules to 9 games and ....
No , that won't work .
Make the top 2 in each conference division play the top 2 in...
No , that either .

You know on second though ...it's good enough already .
