If you’re A&M preparing for Clemson

Aug 30, 2019, 12:12 PM

next week, what do you see in order to be competitive?
1. Have to get pressure on the QB. (O line did a great job!)
2. Defensively, not sure what else you do to disrupt the stable of horses in the Tigers barn. Scary talent!
3. Offensively, QB runs open it up a little.
4. Don’t defer the kickoff! Tigers defense with two straight sacks in the 3rd quarter! Awesome!
5. Trick formations and schemes do not work against a BV disciplined D!
6. Ability to break “arm tackles.” (BV will be all over this!)

A great win last night and a good look under the hood!

Personally I don't think A&M could learn a thing from last night's game. It was basically a scrimmage for us, and we didn't show them anything of consequence. I think Jimbo knows this.

The D bit twice on the pass to the RB out of the backfield..

both times resulted in big gains by GT. I think you'll see A&M implement that as well.

That said, there is a reason Clemson kept it fairly generic and vanilla on both sides of the ball last night.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Exactly! You don't show your cards to a man named Jimbo.

The wheel route has been one of our weaknesses, if we have to actually name one. And it does not work for their O every time, but it is effective more times than other plays.

the reason it is effective against us is b/c we play a lot

of man... last night, we were up close, and dared GT to throw.. This means a LB has the RB, and if they clear a side out, your LB better be able to run or take a good angle...

neither happened...

I suspect against TAMU we will be more base, and you'll see Simmons spying the backs quite a bit

I'm not worried at all. An SEC powerhouse doesn't use copycat plays. So no wheel route and no QB runs!

Jimbo should call Saban and ask for pointers...Since they aren't tired yet.
