I fail to see how the NCAA is going to make "more" money

off of anyone. TV contracts, ticket sales etc... are all pretty well underway for this year. Wouldn't that be similar to saying that the NCAA would lose money if a star player was injured? The NCAA seems to get pretty beat up for trying to enforce laws/bylaws that member institutions agree with. That's just my .02.

It isn't so much the NCAA and conferences that care.

ESPN et al sure do though. I don't know how often the advertising rates are negotiated, but they certainly don't want to see a dip in numbers because these stars aren't out there.

I think most of us forget just how casual the casual fan is, since we are so highly identified with the football team.
