If we ever joined the SEC. Would we suddenly pull for SC?

and vice versa would SC fans suddenly pull for Clemson when facing other conferences? The quick answer is no but I don't know. That SEC kool-aid is intensely powerful stuff.

I like real rivalries, not the SEC brand. Even if a team is not your bitter rival (as the gamecocks are), you still have to recruit against them.

The true rivals don't pull for each other. Alabama and Auburn would never pull for each other. UGA and Auburn are in the same boat. About like in the ACC, teams don't mind seeing another team do well if they don't feel threatened by them, or if they don't feel they can threaten a certain team themselves. But mere association is a powerful thing. And when a conference rolls of national championship after national championship it lends to making one feel they loom better no matter their status to be in such a successful group.

Nope. That's not an "SEC" thing. It's a USuC thing. I remember reading Tigerdroppings and some LSU and Clemson fans had a bit of banter rollin'. Of course, some chicken had to put his 2 cents in, and one of the LSU fans plainly said, "Quit swinging from our sack." It was hilarious.

there's no chance that a team like Clemson will ever get an invite to the SEC. You can quit wasting time thinking about that and spend some more time figuring out how to get out of the cellar in basketball since you play in a basketball first conference. The SEC is a football first conference and we have at least moved to the top 1/3 of it in 20 years. Clemson is in the cellar in basketball in a basketball conference after 60 years.

The thread is NOT about that, but rather how there is no way we would EVER pull for the gamecocks; and, how ridiculous you and yours are with your 'anti-rivalries.'
Dominant conferences are cyclical. Remember those words.

reveal a deep-seated, overwhelming desire for the defeats of each other, regardless of opponents. It's ingrained and finely tuned, and although in mixed company we may be diplomatic, there remains that joyful glee at each other's failures. That's what rivalries are....
