I will be surprised if this happens

It will kill their recruiting in football and basketball.

It will not work with the top athletes, for sure. They come in wanting/expecting to start. They will not sign with a school that won't give them a chance as a freshman. It might be a good thing for everyone else, recruiting wise. I think the B1G coaches will rebel.

If it happens

Feb 20, 2015, 7:40 PM

most B1G teams should be afraid.... very afraid. It would play straight into the hand of Mark Dantonio at Michigan State, who recruits under-the-radar players he can coach into big-time football players. He's already doing a terrific job with that strategy and they would only get better.

If this happened nationally, it would bode very well for us

Feb 21, 2015, 8:14 AM

It would not bode well for teams like FSU, SC, Bama, and pretty much any other team where the players do not care about the actual school. The question is, would you also enforce this on transfers, especially JuCos? If so, you would be shutting down what a lot of teams are doing to stay relevant in football at the cost of making their institution look like a joke. I actually like the idea.

No way, no how the SEC or the ACC would ever elect to go along with this so let the BIG10 and PAC12 go their own way.

Would be bad for the game. Elite players would go to NAIA or some other division so they can play immediately (Community College Ala Shawn Kemp).
