Yeah, but social media wasn't the beast it is now. And I'm hoping that our fans have maybe grown up a little. Wishful thinking, I know - every fan base has their idiots. But just would hope it wouldn't be that bad if it happened here again.
Dabo is really good about making sure everyone knows that it's a team effort. If the offense does a better job then we don't have to rely on a kick. If the defense does a better job then they didn't get that last score.
Pretty sure he'd lay in to the fan base if there was that kind of response, and it would be well deserved.

Some fans are crazy. I guarantee you the kickers hate it when they miss more than we hate it. People forget, football is just a game. The game is not as important as people and relationships.

If I remember correctly didn't our long snapper get death threats after the GT game in 2004? I was in Houston on a business trip and still feel gut kicked from that loss. ??

With those 6 points we are still unbeaten and probably ranked #1 in the CFP today.
I know Clemson fans were upset, but I doubt seriously that Spence got anything like the vitriol and hatred that Bambard seems to have endured.
If he did, it sure went un-reported.

I thought about that. I think a big difference between the Jad Dean days for us, and similar to where NCS is now, is that back then we were very frustrated. We were so close every year to being really good, but just couldn't get over the hump, that a lot of that frustration was vented at the kicker, in this case. Now, after winning the natty and having been pretty consistently very good, while we hate to lose, it's not the same frustration as it was back then. And Spence's circumstances are very different, too, as he wasn't the starter to begin with.
Hopefully we'll continue to win with class and, if we have to at some point NEXT YEAR, lose with class
