I know he played some but it sure if he gets on or not. Any ideas?

If you play a single play, your redshirt is burned. And Hunter has played 40.

That's not accurate. If I recall correctly - if a player doesn't play past the third game of the season they can redshirt

Grants. Typically, once you play a down, you can’t redshirt that year. He could transfer and have 3 years left or redshirt another year. But he has burned 1 of his 4 playing years

I believe you’re confusing a “medical hardship waiver” (what people refer to as a medical redshirt) with an actual redshirt.
In the case of a redshirt, 1 play and that eligibility clock has already started ticking.

Only way to redshirt after playing a single play is through the applied process of a medical redshirt which can be granted if the player has competed in fewer than 30% of the games in a season or 3 games, whichever is greater.
There is a 2017 proposal on the table by the AFCA to eliminate medical redshirts altogether and their subjective nature. If approved, medical redshirts will be eliminated and the new rule will allow a player to redshirt as long as they haven't played in more than 4 games.

Dabo and co. have shown that the best man plays. Don’t matter freshman, senior, leaving, or staying... Clemson plays football to win games. If the coaching staff cared about redshirts for guys that aren’t freshman, they would have applied for Mike Williams. If Johnson is the man, he has plenty of time to prove it.

I don't think Dabo had any intention on redshirting him anyway but he's played in 4 games ( Kent State, UL, WF, GT ). The cutoff for a redshirt is 3.

If I was Johnson or Johnson’s parents I would be pissed. It’s one thing to not play him but another thing to burn his redshirt knowing it’s not in meaningful situations or needed
