If Indiana fires Tom Creen...

Feb 16, 2017, 4:14 PM

We should go after him. He is a perfect for for us, if we raise his pay.... no brainer, but just my opinion.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree 100%. I have some friends who are IU alums

Feb 16, 2017, 4:21 PM

and they think he gets another year.

He isn't the coach of Indiana basketball I know that much.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I feel like Creen would he a good try here

Mar 15, 2017, 4:14 AM [ in reply to Who is Tom Creen?*** ]

We've tried the upstart mid major coach route before.

Sometimes a big time established coach does better in a new environment. I mean heck look at Frank Marrin. Or hos KSU successor Bruce Weber, he's doing ok there.

Yea just a year ago Indiana was a great team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm in the camp that if you can't consistently win at IU

Feb 16, 2017, 4:44 PM

with their resources, history, backing, and Brand,

then really BBall coaching isn't for you.

Kinda of reminds me of a certain Def Coord who couldn't win at Florida

and now finds himself failing at the worst Head Football Coaching job in America.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I'm in the camp that if you can't consistently win at IU

Feb 16, 2017, 4:49 PM

He has took them to the sweet 16 3 of the last 5 years and the second round in another year. So atleast second round of the tourney in 4 of the last 5 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn't say they SHOULD fire him...

Feb 16, 2017, 4:56 PM

I did say that anyone who can't win consistently at IU

should not be considered at Clemson.

Further, let's look at the deal as is -

you say he's a consistent winner, yet everyone here seems to think his pants are warm.

I'd then ask the question: What does that tell us about politics and mob rule,

and should Clemson fans be watching those goings-on as a cautionary tale?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I remember when Bill Belichick was fired then

Feb 16, 2017, 4:29 PM [ in reply to Clemson should be jumping on someone who just got fired? ]

he was hired by the Patriots. Was that a bad personnel decision?

However, it is not wrong to have an opinion that change is needed.

Re: I remember when Bill Belichick was fired then

Feb 16, 2017, 8:28 PM [ in reply to I remember when Bill Belichick was fired then ]

You must have "misremembered". He was not fired before he got the pats job. He was on staff with the jets. Parcells gave him the HC job with the jets but he do not take it. Went to pats instead.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So it's your contention that Art Modell did not fire him

Feb 17, 2017, 9:51 AM

before he became HC for the Pats? Does that mean Art Modell fired him after he took the Pats job? If so, that's even more weird.

Re: So it's your contention that Art Modell did not fire him

Feb 17, 2017, 10:26 AM

The post is about whether or not to hire someone directly after they have been fired. Modell fired him 5 years before he became pats coach.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you agree with me then, got it.

Feb 17, 2017, 11:19 AM

If Creen gets fired, or heck...look at Gottfried, why wouldn't we want to go after guys who have proven they can get to the tournament in major P5 conferences? Did it take 5 years for Belichick to become a genius in between getting fired and the Pats hiring him?

although they are having a bit of a down year this year.

Creen would be a significant upgrade compared to who we currently have IMO.

I think it's similar to Mark Richt at UGA. Impossible expectations there. If he was let go, he would do well here. Don't think he will though. They had a lot of key injuries this season.
