I'd rather see a six team playoff model over

Dec 7, 2014, 12:54 AM

The suggested 8. Obviously 4 won't last. But I say have the 5 power conference champs automatically in and one at- large. Let the two top seeds get a first round bye.

6 would be perfect this year

Dec 7, 2014, 12:59 AM

The only argument would be over which teams get the bye

agreed

I like the six team model

I don't disagree. Make a rule that the power 5 champions get in if they have 2 losses or less. You have to avoid 3 loss conference champ etc upsetting the better team in playoff.

Honestly would there really be an argument with 6. 8 would let the little guys have a shot though.

Yeah, Id be ok with 8 but then u couldn't reward the top 2 with a bye and I think six remedies this. I think there should be done advantage for obvious top teams who may be undefeated .

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If youre gonna wait an extra week to give a team a bye

Dec 7, 2014, 1:19 AM

Why not just have 8 teams? It would generate a lot more money too.

The extra week is the same in either model so it's really a non issue. I like rewarding the top seeds for great years and having conference champs n only 1 at large.

It would take 3 wee3eks reguardless if it were 6 or 8***

6 will not work. You can't let a committee decide who gets a

bye. We will be stuck with the 4 team model for at least 4 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

of course it could work

Dec 7, 2014, 1:48 AM

Would be better than the four we have now by far. And there is always gonna be some human element but I'm should they could find a reasonable way to figure the bye.

With your logic, just do away with the committee.

Re: I'd rather see a six team playoff model over

Go for broke, take all the FBS & FCS teams and then completely realign them into 3 groups. Make top group 80 teams in 4 twenty team conferences. Divide the conf into 2 ten team divisions. Play everyone in your division (9 games) play 2 rotating cross division teams (total 11 game regular season like it used to be). Division champs play for conf championship. Four conference champs go to 4 team playoff. Remaining eligable teams are selected for bowl games.

No subjectivity, wanna go to the playoff and be NC, win your division, the CCG, and the playoff. Didn't make it, better luck next year. Conf Champs draw for seeding in the four team playoff. No polls, no committee, win it or lose it on the field. Good teams that don't make it will still have the bowl games as a post season reward.

The old set up with 6 AQ conf easily laid out a 16 team playoff. Conf Champs are the 1st round with room for four 4 non-AQ non-conf Champs deciding who is the best between them.
