Ray Tanner is completely ball-less

Says they wouldnt tolerate the kind of words and actions against players that he is allowing Martin to spew. Yep hes been tempered well by his daddy spurrier. Lost any amount of respect i may have had for him the minute he walked off the bb field. But then again thats coot logic; oh yeah if hes a good bb coach then he must be a good ad. Good grief what a stooge

Considering Tanner already suspended Martin once

for the exact same kind of behavior towards a "student-athlete" (chuckle), one has to question why the local media hasn't held his hand close to the fire about this most recent Martin profanity-laced attack on a player....oh wait, nevermind.......maybe Frankie will have to put a dollar in the "swear jar"

Hiring Martin was a questionable decision.

Putting up with Martin's bi-polar rage is sad. Surely there are better basketball coached out there willing to come to USuC..... but maybe not.

$CU wasn't looking for a better basketball coach....

As has generally been the case, they wanted someone with very little character or integrity.
Martin is a perfect fit for them.
He is a mediocre coach at a lousy program that plays in a weak basketball conference. Other than Kentucky, the $EC doesn't have one single team ranked in the top 25 yet $CU is a mere 1 - 5 in league play and tied for dead last in the conference standings.
It's one thing to tolerate a coach with very low level of morality when he's winning. It's another matter entirely to tolerate such antics when his teams are perennial doormats.

As poorly as Clemson has shot the ball at times this season

Clemson still has a better record against $EC opponents (3 - 1) than $CU (1 - 5).

$CU stared holding-up its end of the rivalry in basketball. Three wins in the last twelve years. You must be very proud.

That's akin to Clemson fans bragging about still owning the overall series record against $CU in baseball. That and twenty-five cents will get you a cheap cup of coffee.
Other than the brief three year period under Larry Shyatt, Clemson has absolutely DOMINATED the basketball rivalry over the last 35 years and if $CU had not refused to play Clemson or any other ACC opponent for the five year period from 1973 to 1977, the results would likely be weighted even more in Clemson's favor.

That's the way he coaches all the time, if he's going to suspend him every time it's caught on TV he might as well fire him.

to put up with Martin's antics. Agree, hiring him was a bad mistake but I hope they keep him awhile longer - not many good players will want to be under him.

I don't post much on Tigernet, although I do read it quite a lot, but I had to respond to this post. I lost all respect for Ray Tanner with his handling, or lack thereof, of the Steve Spurrier drunk coach show episode.
When asked by a reporter (three days after the airing of the show) about the appearance of Steve Spurrier being intoxicated on his TV show, Tanner's response was he had not seen that episode, but Spurrier said he wanted the episode pulled because he was just too hard on his players following a win. What baloney!
If you are the AD and had heard all the the buzz surrounding that episode when it aired (and you'd either have to be dead or on another planet to have not heard about it) and made no effort to watch it yourself, or if you watched it and did nothing but come up with that lame response, you are on Steve Spurrier's payroll too!

It failed.
He will not be able to keep the guy on a leash at all. He knows what he hired, he hoped for the best - but history is again repeating itself as it almost always does.
Based on history, no reason to not think the NCAA will not be far behind the upcoming "conflict" Martin will have with someone in the school administration.

shown himself to be a classy guy. I do believe Martin has been spoken to, again. Martin is who he is and I don't see that changing. If this season continues to tank and Martin implodes, he could make it an easy decision.
