I wished Jim Phillips Were Around Seeing This Incredible Run

Jan 10, 2019, 3:14 PM

I still remember those times when Clemson was playing that we would turn the sound down so we could hear the radio broadcast instead. It was a privilege to have heard him call our very first National Title game.

I could only imagine what it would have been like with him in the press box for the last 4 Playoff Years.

You younger people that never really got to experience Jim Phillips the way us older fans are really missed something special!

I didn't think our network and Jim were permitted to broadcast that game.

run in the late 70s and the 1981 NC and the success in the 80s. He stuck with Clemson even through the leanest of times.

Will never agree with him not being in the ROH. I know he didn't graduate from a 4-year college but in his case that requirement IMO should be waived. He was THE Voice of the Tigers from 1968 until he died. We'll never have another real Voice of the Tigers who did ALL Clemson sports.

Bob Bradley is in the ROH and it's well-deserved without a doubt. Would like to see Jim in there as well. These two men are the only non-players or non-coaches that should be in the ROH as of right now IMO.
