I was driving through Spartanburg today and there

Was a line of trucks driving around town with rebel flags all over them and people dressed in rebel attire. I guess they didn't care much for recent events...

I'm going to try to attach a pic but it's hard to see but a couple cars from it.

Is that not normal in Spartanburg?***

Yup, the battle flag of Northern Virginia is everywhere now.

I don't think it is that they are don't care about the recent events. They have a right to "Freedom of Speech". If I saw someone wearing a NAACP or a KKK shirt, I wouldn't say nothing to them as long as they left me and my son alone. I actually think the Confederate Battle Flag is a very beautiful flag and I don't see it as being racism, but then again, I'm not a Black American.

I'm a white american, raised in SC and can assure you the confederate flag is a symbol of racism. Not the civil war.....it was flown everywhere ad-nauseum during the fight against equal rights and integration. It's the flags use in modern times that is offensive.

I can say with 100 percent certainty that your statement is

incorrect. There are many people with rebel flags that are not racist at all. There are many proud Southerners that are proud of their southern heritage that are not racist at all. There are many Americans with ZERO white guilt.

I'm not Southern, don't own a rebel flag, and never would own one. I've never known anyone that I new was a KKK member. I've never knowingly even ever seen a KKK member. I've never know of or seen a KKK rally in 35 years living in the south.

From a vexillological standpoint, the battle flag is quite good (I would argue the Stars and Bars were better looking). The problem is that it stands for a failed treasonous government, or at the very least its military - a military that fought for (and lost) the right to keep and own slaves.

I bet they didn't drive through Duncan Park like that.
