CJ Spiller in 2009 (behind a HORRIBLE O-line with a HORRIBLE QB):
Rushing -- 1,212 yards/5.6 average, 12 TD
Receiving -- 503 yards/14.0 average, 4 TD
Special Teams -- PR-8-210/KR-21-708/5 TD
TOTAL: 2633 yards and 21 TDs
Mark Ingram in 2009 (behind a great O-Line):
Rushing -- 1,658/6.1 average, 17 TD
Receiving -- 334 yard/10.4 average, 3 TD
Special Teams -- PR 0-0/KR 0-0/ 0 TD
TOTAL: 1992 yards and 20 TDs
Reggie Bush in 2005 (won the Heisman...before giving it back...behind a GREAT O-line and a QB in the Heisman race as well):
Rushing -- 1,777 yards/8.7 average, 16 TD
Receiving -- 478 yards/12.9 average, 2 TD
Special Teams -- PR 18-179/KR 28-493/ 1 TD
TOTAL: 2927 yards and 19 TDs
2 of these guys won the Heisman. 1 wasn't even INVITED to the ceremony!!!????

Freshman All-ACC, set freshman record at Clemson for completions, yards, and TDs. First freshman QB to take his team to the ACC championship game(against GT, who was later stripped of the title). Yeah, he was horrible.

in 4 of 5 losses from '09, we had the ball late with a chance to win or tie with one possession.
GT, Mary, TCU, and GT again. (vs Usuc we got way behind.)
We only managed to tie a late game once, and that was at Miami when we were able to run the ball into fg territory b/c KP threw an INT in the endzone on the previous possession.
KP was as unclutch a QB as we've had. Very talented overall, though.

Agree. IMO....he should have won. He was more valuable to Clemson than the other two were to their teams.

Watching CJ against GT in Tampa was an amazing experience. He was just fabulous that night, turf toe and cold temps be darned.
The loss stung , our defense was awful ...but he won the MVP and deservedly so.
CJ was the best running back Clemson University ever had . IMHO

The Heisman does not go to the best player, it goes to the best player on one of the best teams.
We failed to win a trophy.

club when the gave the heisman trophy to that guy from fsu. They did not honor their own mission statement and I too had had enough and told them how disappointed I was in them and how I had lost all respect for the association and the trophy. I let them know that I did not recognize them or the trophy any more. I believe others should have shamed them as well.

to the best college player a long time ago. You still have to be talented, but you have to come from a one loss team or a team playing for the National Championship. Does the name Gordie Lockbaum ring a bell? The only player to win the trophy from a losing team was Paul Hornung. Can you picture a winner today from a losing team?

and was one season I wanted to reach through the tv and strangle Herbstreit anytime the Heisman was discussed.
CJ was clearly the most outstanding player in college football that year. Noone else was close.
