I was about to post something on this... This is a bigger deal than Urban (for us) as we face Louisville.

This is a good hire and the coach UNCheat SHOULD have hire rather than the Werther's Original Sure-free candy bowl.

Now we will face a very good coach from Louisville and while Satterfield improved the Mountaineers while stepping up, they were also the most "storied" football program in NC. So it will be interesting if he can actually recover the Louisville program. He is a good coach but that is a tough mountain to climb. Plus, Louisville makes App State look scholarly.

I too think Satterfield is a good coach...

but there is a BIG DIFFERENCE in winning consistently at App State and doing it at Louisville.

He will get better players at Louisville and he has shown what he can do with the talent available at Boone
If he gets the right staff in place he will be s huge success in Kentucky.

I hope they give him time

He’s probably gonna run off a bunch of the dead wood and have a few lean years with small numbers of upperclassmen

Of beating Penn State this year. I bet the Cards finish next year in the top twenty five.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't see that happening

The roster is depleted. It will take him years to get his players in place. App State was a destination for players who weren't given big time offers, it may have been easier to recruit there than Louisville. And while the ACC was down this year, his schedule is going to be a lot tougher week in week out. It's a lot easier to get your team up for one game against Penn State than it is to get them up for playing Clemson, FSU, Syracuse, BC, Kentucky, etc every week. They may have taken PSU to OT, but they lost by 20 to GSU.
