Rob Spence Question

Jun 18, 2019, 2:24 PM

What was the name of that play where Cullen Harper would get flushed out of the pocket and run out of bounds?

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't remember exactly, but Scelliott tried to bring

Jun 18, 2019, 2:31 PM

it back when we had KB for a year at QB, he would get flushed out of the pocket and run out of bounds...usually for a loss of yards on the play.

It’s hard calling passing plays with a KB that can’t throw accurately beyond 10 yards.

I just remember that the Spence sequence was

Jun 18, 2019, 2:33 PM

run, run, pass, punt.

Punt on 4th & 18.

I remember that Davis and Spiller had 13 total combined carries against one of the worst run defenses in D1 in the 2006 Music City Bowl.

Sure tricked them though. Nobody was expecting it.***

May have been the most pathetic game ever called in D-1 football, except for the Scar/Virginia bowl game last year.

If I am correct we completed about 95% of our passes (190 of 200 for 113 Yards ... 2 interceptions).

But the offense was so awesome because lineman were ALWAYS in the 2 pt stance.

Looks like he got a new gig with Pop Warner oversight committee:

Wasn't it Spence who had the offensive linemen in a 2-point squat on every down?

Oops, just saw ninetytwotiger's post already noting this.

Spence is now OC at Georgetown: https://guhoyas.com/coaches.aspx?rc=84&path=football. Hopefully he's learned a thing or two about playcalling and predictability in the last decade.
