Mickey Pryler on defense

If our defense is as bad as he said in his blog we might as well give it
up. I know we are bad, but is it that bad? Thoughts

Actually, I think Mickey was easy on them. I've been a fan for 25 years. This is arguably the worst defense in the last 25 years. I do not blame the DC. He has been handed a hand full of 2's and 3's.
I will, of course, scream as loud as a can in valley to help these guys out. I am so glad our easy games are away. The 12th man needs to help them out come October 6th.

Last 25 years?

25 years ago would be 1987. No Clemson defense in the 1980s are even close as bad as this years, even 1986, when we went 6-6. So you would have to go back to at least 1980 but probably even further back than that, say 1975 when the chickens put 55 points on us.
That being said, I think it is safe to say this is by far Clemson's worse defense in 37 years (not 25)

That said, I am optimistic that Coach Venables can turn these afraid to hit Little Sisters of the Poor into a very average Defense by the South Carolina and bowl games.

If we can get average on Defense by the middle of the year, with our Offense, we can win a respectable 9 or 10 games. Go Tigers!

We need that tradition to be resurected. That is Clemson football --- it all starts with the DEFENSE.
