I think I've reached a new low.....

Dec 31, 2015, 10:18 AM

My wife, who is also a Clemson grad is working tonight. Has to leave at 6 PM, couldn't get a switch (holidays are impossible).

I got a babysitter from 4-8 just so I could ignore my 3 kids (in particular, my 1 year old baby) and watch the game without being interrupted and have to worry about pesky things like dinner/putting the baby down. Yep, that's right. A babysitter so I could sit in my basement and watch a football game without dealing with my children. That's a new low.

GO TIGERS!!!!!

I would do the same thing...I have 4 kids and 1 is 11 months so I understand exactly what you mean.

POTD, maybe the year...

Dec 31, 2015, 10:25 AM

You are not alone. Trust me.

Short of a death in the family(and I mean a close relative),this is a big afternoon/evening. No protective measures are off the table.

OP must not have a DVR. You can pause that, and then skip the commercials.

JK - sorry for your grief man.

Re: I think I've reached a new low.....

Dec 31, 2015, 11:16 AM

So your ex gave you the kids Christmas weekend so you could watch the OB this weekend? ###... That's a win-win for you and a lose-lose for them... Way to go!

Re: I think I've reached a new low.....

Dec 31, 2015, 10:28 AM

I was listening to XM the other day and a guy called in (I think he was an Oklahoma guy) who said he told his wife he had to work tonight. He said he's going to buy a 6 pack of beer and check into a hotel room and watch it by himself... So - you know, you're not really alone. You gotta do what you gotta do.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think I've reached a new low.....

Dec 31, 2015, 10:30 AM

He's going to need more than a 6 pack to deal with that beat down!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think I've reached a new low.....

Dec 31, 2015, 10:32 AM

That's not bad at all...just have your priorities straight. I actually prefer to watch Clemson games alone...I get to sit in my favorite chair and I can yell irrational things at the TV without fear of chastisement from my wife and/or kids. When I watch the game with them, they like to talk too much and we always end up getting in arguments which further detract from my viewing experience. You are doing the right thing for you AND your family.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think I've reached a new low.....

Dec 31, 2015, 12:27 PM

I thought I was the only one... My wife says I'm miserable to watch the game with. I only want to watch, not chat. I'd be perfectly fine watching alone or with someone else who shares my same fan mentality.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Enjoy the game***

parenting. Plus, you are helping out a probable Coot fan (babysitter, no Clemson fan would babysit on this night) with a little extra money.

Re: I think I've reached a new low.....

Dec 31, 2015, 11:29 AM

Good question. My wife set it up for me, out of 'concern for the well being of our children'.

We also reached an agreement on the NCCG. After we win today I get to go but I owe her 'a large favor to be named later'. I did some math and the insane costs of tickets amounts to basically a week of college when little CJ (after #28, of course) is ready in 17 years.

That's a good Clemson woman right there...

Re: I think I've reached a new low.....

I have three children and four if you count my wife they will get on my nerves today. I would go in my basement and watch the game but I watched every game on my main level so I can't switch now.

If you mess around with the hot baby sitter and miss the game then I would agree with you. However, you will be innocently in your basement watching the game like a good Husband and Father... GO TIGERS!

I know how you feel, that is why I text my grand kids and told them not to drive to my house bc the cops were on all the roads coming in checking drivers license and for drinking and smoking pot. I knew that would keep them away. ;)

Best $60 I ever spent.

Although my 9 yr old came downstairs with a very serious look on her face. "Daddy", she said. "I've been watching our Tigers since I was a little girl and I really want to watch us win this with you. I'll be quiet except cheering when we do good."

How could I say no to that?

GO TIGERS!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My 4.5 month old watched the whole game in good spirits.
