Don't agree with this anyway, but I especially don't agree with it when Trump's not even on the ballot.

I didn't vote for him in the GOP primary. Reluctantly did in the general election. He's keeping me on his record and what he's accomplished. Still don't like his personality. Best professor I had at Clemson was an #######. Still a good professor.

Trump also ran on a platform. He was by no means issueless campaigning. He's delivered on most of the issues he can deal with directly. Hasn't done the wall, but that's because no one likes his personality. I'd say the cult is squarely against his personality, if anything.

The danger here is how does a guy like Trump win? Democrats and the GOP need to look a long time in the mirror to figure that one out. More Americans lack a voice now than ever in my lifetime. Where are the spending cutters in Washington? Where are the government shrinkers? Where are the leaders who want to relinquish power to the states and/or people? They're not there. For them there was no option BUT Trump. They latched on to Trump and NO ONE saw them coming. At least no one immersed in politics. People in flyover country who were once middle class with manufacturing jobs saw it coming. We all did really.

But you can't dismiss him as a cult of personality. He spoke to a very large segment of Americans ignored and castigated for several decades really. They latched onto the only alternative they saw to being similar to them. There were democrats, republicans, and something unique. Well, if you've been ignored for decades, you jump at something unique. But Trump's not going to change the GOP, Congress, or anyone else really. Those people who appeared out of thin air according to the Illuminati, those people will change things.
