I'm sure DePaul would have been willing to send him back. He never had a winning record after he left Clemson.

Call him up i think he is looking for a job***

you know what the most impressive stat about OP was?

Feb 23, 2016, 11:04 PM

it wasn't the 3 NCAAT appearances, IMO....

It was that, over that 3 year period... Clemson had more ACC wins than any other school not named UNC or Duke. And that is in a conference that Clemson has ALWAYS struggled in (so don't give me the "different ACC" crap)

that was impressive

know who finished fourth over that stretch? VT, and they

Feb 23, 2016, 11:37 PM

were no great shakes.

so what? look at Clemson's history

Feb 23, 2016, 11:42 PM

and you are gonna tell me that is not a big deal?

really?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not as big as the 3 straight...Vt was only a game or two off

Feb 23, 2016, 11:46 PM

and they weren't in the NCAA...HeII, Brad has a better conference record than any other coach in our history and it won't save him

do you think it should?***

That was impressive.

What's also impressive is that Brownell has an even better record against the ACC. Unfortunately, he has not done as well in the early season non-conference games, and that is why we haven't been in more NCAA Tournaments under Brownell.

"All those 'Fire Brownell' guys can kiss it." -Joseph Girard III

"Everybody needs to know that Coach Brownell is arguably the best coach to come through Clemson." -PJ Hall

I don't see how that is impressive...

Feb 24, 2016, 12:29 AM

it is only impressive in the sense of "what did it mean"

Ok.. so BB won all these ACC games. It obviously wasn't enough, as we not only don't have an NCAAT appearance (minus 1st year), and we don't have anything of note in the ACCT under him either.

I'm really looking hard for the positives here...

but a trend, is a trend, is a trend

where is Purnell now??

Feb 28, 2016, 9:39 PM

all this love for a guy---regardless of ones opinion of his accomplishments while he was at Clemson---who basically abandoned his team in the middle of the night....with little to no notice.

He left the "rural" setting and all his recruiting for Clemson and headed for more money and about as urban a setting as available at DePaul.....where he failed miserably and was summarily dismissed to the great satisfaction of every basketball fan in Chicago.

lol....at least Tommy Bowden found commentary work in broadcasting.....apparently no one respects Purnell's opinion enough to hire him for his analytics....at least not nationally
