Directions question...

Aug 26, 2015, 7:32 PM

What is the best way to get from Greenville, SC to Augusta, Georgia? Go due South through Greenwood and country back roads or get on 385 heading toward Cootlumbia and before I-26 get off on back country roads and head South? TIA

What do you say road warriors that have made this trip before?

Second option if it's a light traffic day/time. I've done both but getting stuck behind an old lady on those one lane back roads is torture if you can't pass...

I suggest greenwood if you are not in a hurry. Any reason to bypass THAT place on 26 in August is a good thing.

I live in Aiken

and have made the trip between Aiken and Clemson more time than I can count. I've tried it all - Abbeville, Greenwood, Columbia, and a few others. Greenwood is the best option. We usually end up going through Anderson because we usually stay there, but driving up Hwy 25 toward Greenville is an easier drive.

Take I 185 to greenwood exit. 25 south to 225 by pass in greenwood. This brings you back out to 25 south. Take it to edgefield. Take by pass around edgefield til you get to sweatwater rd. Take it for 14 miles to hwy 25. You are then 2 Mikes from I 20 or 520 depending where in augusta you want to go

Then just take I 20 west to 520. Take the airport exit. Stay on 520 til you see 25 south. That takes you straight to Waynesboro stay off hwy 56 in augusta. Major construction going on
