but this is a non-story. Aamir isn’t going pro now. He is simply doing the smart thing by declaring for the draft and getting valuable feedback from NBA teams. This will help him during his senior season and beyond.
This is the same thing Grantham and Blossomgame did after their junior year.

Did the others post a thank you letter at the time they declared? I don’t recall, but to me the tone of his letter sounds like he’s anxious to move on.

I am glad you cleared that up JK because IMHO Aamir Simms is not even close to being ready for the NBA.

I could be wrong but pretty sure reed and Mitchell did this before their sr seasons as well...smart move and don’t think he goes pro, would be a bad decision but can’t blame him for just seeing what happens

Everyone does this. Grantham did after his horrendous Jr season.

Good post JK. I expect he will be told he is not draft-able level at this time and to work on ball handling. Tons of guys his size that can go to the rack with ease in the NBA. I hope it is for seeking information purposes only and not bad advice.

Who can state for FACT that he won't decide to forego his senior year?
Is what JK posted the likely scenario? Absolutely, but it isn't FACT.

Well, you will have to agree that the statement:
"This is the same thing Grantham and Blossomgame did after their junior year."
is actually a FACT.

Aamir is a great player, but is certainly not NBA ready at this point, if ever. This is a similar move that lots of our past players have made, think Blossomgame, Reed, Mitchell, etc. They all did this after their junior year before returning.
This will allow him to participate in the pre-draft workouts and get some good experience with high level players and see where he stands. I don't think this is any cause for concern.

Yep, I'm worried about the Canadian player who is in a Mexican school not being able to come due to some corona related quarrantine junk

The only move for him. Get better at the combines (if

the nba has the combines) and maybe catch a teams eye. If he doesn’t, not signing with an agent so he comes back and we make the final 4 (if there is a final 4 next year, or a country to play basketball in ??)

Sims may be talented enough to make it unlike the junior last year that had no chance.

Wrong decision

If Amir could actually dribble the ball to attack the basket I would be OK with this decision. Another year could have benefitted him. He will never make it in the NBA with all the players he needs to compete against.

Someone clearly doesn't (1) know the rules surrounding the draft process and (2) read before he posts.

I hope Aamir comes back but, it's a good thing that he's doing for himself. No one knows what is going to happen with the college sports seasons at this point.

Really hoping this is just him testing the waters especially since he's not signing an agent

Maybe just see what areas of improvement would be for him to succeed @ next level so he can come back to work on during his senior year.
If he does leave, that would be just another kick in the gut that we come to expect regarding Clemson basketball. With how the team performed this year, I think next year's team w/ Simms as the senior leader could be one of the better teams in school history. If he leaves though, I think would hurt like it did when KJ left early.

If he does come back (I think he will) and improves this year like he did last year, he should be an nba player.
