Actually no. Supposedly when Spurrier got to SC he took down anything Clemson related because he didn't want the focus to be on the last game of the season every year.

Well if that's what you think, it must be working. But I doubt it is, Clemson is the one with the chip on the shoulder right now, even in baseball, celebrating the way they did on Sunday only to get their butts handed to them by a disciplined team.

While you can say that game #12 doesn't mean anything unless you win the first 11 the more important thing is that in the new playoff system games 1-11 will mean nothing but a trip to Nashville if we don't win game #12, combine that with game #12 being the coots and yes this is the most important game on the schedule.

I don't know why you would choose a 6th straight loss to USC in exchange for a FSU win, especially when beating FSU doesn't guarantee anything. Beating SCAR guarantees we end this unprecedented streak.

Beating the reigning national champs means nothing without being able to beat the coots. We can beat FSU like a drum but a without a win against the coots we will not be a playoff team.

Had we beaten FSU this year but still lost the Coot game like we did, there's a very good chance that we would have still played in the Orange Bowl. (Not that that's bad...just to say that our post season prospects don't automatically get better with an FSU win)

Normally, I would agree, but this year beating SCAR needs to be priority number 1. Six in a row is flat out wrong. My graduating class and the class after mine went their entire college career without a win over the gamecocks in football. It needs to stop now.

Also, it's not just that's we're emphasizing a single game per year in typical Lou Holtz fashion. We're emphasizing avoiding an unprecedented streak in the series.

Seems to me that Dabo is reminding his players everyday that they are better than us right now and that we have to work harder to beat them. Obviously treating it just like any other game has not went well in our favor the past few years so its time to mix it up and try a different approach.

If you listened to any of the coaches over the last two years the approach has been to treat it just like any other game and that has worked real great for us the last two years. They have not given the coots the respect that they were a decent team then they shut down our high powered offense and let a QB run past us like we were standing still two years in a row. If you want our players to hate the coots the way the fans do, tell them that they are better than us and remind them of how they have beat us and by game time they will be ready to lay a beat down on some chickens.

Not sure how I feel about this.
On one hand, like many of you have stated, Spurrier removed all things Clemson from their locker room and now has the upper hand in the rivalry. He changed their mentality.
On the other hand, losing 5 straight aint gonna cut it so I'm up for trying to change something.

beating clemson is one of our main accomplishments under spurrier - but it's still not his main objective. SEC championship is the main objective, and setting that as the objective has helped change the culture, raise the standards and ultimately beat clemson, even tho we haven't reached the main objective.

Dabo is usually only positive, maybe to a fault. The "0-5" seems to be really large font relative to the size of the clock and is certainly not telling the team how "great" they are, which is Dabo's usual m.o.

I doubt that is true. Too much emphasis on one game can only do harm. Lou Holtz put 'Beat Clemson' signs all over the Carolina locker rooms from what I was told, and that did not work out so well. Just be the best team we can be, and the Carolina game will work itself out.

I don't think something like this is bad. What's embarrassing is that it's up in March. The week leading up to the game maybe. But give me a break, this is humiliating. The clock should be counting down to the Georgia game.
