New Story: Venables not pleased with the corners after Wednesday scrimmage

Venables not pleased with the corners after Wednesday scrimmage

There comes a point every spring and fall, usually after the first major scrimmage of camp, when defensive coordinator Brent Venables acts like he’s been handed the starting defense of the South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs, minus Bobby Boucher. Full Story »

Hope Dabo never leaves but if he does, I want this guy as head coach.

Unfortunately, this does not surprise me. I got to watch practice for 2 hours at youth day. One of the corners got consistently roasted. Hopefully he improves. If you are a 5 star DB, how are you not phoning our coaches every day trying to get in here. Just my .02 which is worth just slightly less than .02.

I have confidence that Coach V. will have our corners ready

Mar 15, 2018, 9:36 AM

to play. I'm hoping Huggins will have a break-out season, go on to a long NFL career and transition to a TV commentator where he will bring his good humor and intellect to millions while speaking the never-ending story of D. Line U.

The flip side of this is ........ maybe the QBs and WRs are just that good!

This is just a shrewd recruiting tactic by Coach Venables. He's sending a message to all of the 5***** DB prospects that they have an opportunity to come to Clemson and gain immediate playing time.

What was that stuff about graduate transfers?

Mar 15, 2018, 1:02 PM

I'm new around here. What did he mean when he "joked" about graduate transfers, Clemson doesn't get any of those, and some other school does (who?).

I wish I could say this is the only time I've asked to have a joke explained to me....

The Gamecocks just took a grad transfer at corner.

And their juco transfers show up to death valley for piggy back rides into the end zone.

New huh? Just remember this. It’s all about the coots. We mock and shame them like battered husbands. Now even Brent is in on it. ??

Not a new Clemson fan....just new to Tigernet and trying hard to catch up on the lingo and jokes.

I live in Cootlandia, unfortunately. After a weekend visit to Clemson, I am ready to move there.

Thanks for all the replies.

Don't forget Auburn and Louisville.

When I think of transfers, those two schools come to mind a lot quicker than the Coots. Maybe it is because the transfers that the Coots get are not even that good.
