First of all I'm no fan of our current system where anything concrete (who gets to play for the title) is based on something so nebulous as opinion, but that's an argument for another day.

If we are gonna have this sort of system then the move by Stanford seems appropriate at this stage in the season. They went out and beat a good team and looked very very good doing it. Thus they move up. No problem with that at all.

First, preseason polls had USCw ten or twelve spots higher than they deserve thus, the Barkley for Heisman crap.

Second, the pollsters can't admit they overhyped USCw so Standford (a good team but not top ten) reaped the reward of the over hype thrown around during the preseason.
