I dont see how Tennessee will beat Georgia Tech. Am i wrong?

Tennessee lost all of their offensive production from last year's team that lost to South Carolina and Vanderbilt. They have an eggshell fragile psyche from the coaches down to the returning players after being by far the most disappointing 2016 team in the country. But maybe worst of all, their Defense finished the year ranked 104th in the nation against the run. If this is your situation, you can say with confidence that the last team you'd want to open the 2017 season with is Georgia Tech and their Triple Option offense.
There's nothing to begin to suggest that they have any hope of stopping GT's ground attack. And if you can't push around GT in the trenches and they run the ball on you, all you can do is outscore them. Tough time to be breaking in replacements for Dobbs, Kamara, and Hurd.

easier to prepare for when you have more than a short week. We do well and managed to win despite short weeks. But they have weeks to prepare. And they have athletes on their side of the ball. So, I don't think it's a given.

One plus for Tennessee is that they were ravaged by injuries on defense last year. They will have a lot of that front line talent back healthy (Tuttle, McKenzie, etc). They may surprise.

True but they lost their best D-Lineman who was mr do it all in Derek Barnett who went in the first round. This guy was the true heart of that defense and would've been either way. so they have shoes to fill as well. It will be a good game, you never know what Tennessee team will show up.

One could argue that losing their QB is a plus for GT since he couldn't complete a forward pass.

Johnson's offense usually starts out slow...

and gets better towards the end of the season.
GT's mistakes may work in UThug's favor.

It's an option offense with a new QB in week 1 of the season. Not just a new QB, but potentially a new 2nd string QB as the guy that was slotted to take over, Matthew Jordan, injured his foot in the spring and needed surgery.
GT defenses are always pretty average too.
I think it's probably a coin flip game tbh, but Tennessee is a 3-4 point favorite on the line right now.

A big GT fan for that game. I,for one, will NEVER forget the problems that they caused my Tigers in the early 80's. They were most responsible for our years of probation.

I don't see the most obvious problem for UT listed here - Butch Jones is still their coach. He is amazing at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Nobody does it better.

GT has better coaching / scheme but Tennessee has far superior athletes. If GT can execute on offense they will win

Tenn will beat GT. The bees are garbage. How's that for in-depth analysis?
