I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night so I am

not an experienced head coach--never been one at all. I did play, however. Here's my humble take on this Stoudt/Watson narrative. It took Boyd two years to learn the Chad's offense. Stoudt knows it. He has seen it for three years and in the fourth. He knows the full package. When he goes onto the field he gives us much more flexibility and options. Watson, although a great athlete, has only been around the offense 8 months--going into the 9th. He does not know the package and when he enters the game what he can do is limited to what he knows. Then too, I suppose, that makes him more successful (when he is in) since he is probably running precise predetermined plays that meet his skill set better than others from the entire package. Stoudt, on the other hand, has to be prepared to run every play in the play book.
My point is, although Stoudt may not be the athlete Watson is, he does give us the best opportunity to win, right now, this year. I think Watson will grow this year as he learns the system and may play much more by the Coot game, but Stoudt is the present. Watson is the future--maybe near future--but, future nevertheless.
Just a take from an old geezer with arthritic fingers who cannot type.

I agree. I am a Stoudt fan but Watson is impressive. You can see the kid is very talented and is doing well in the system. I hope we continue to have the luxury of bringing him aloong slowly. He will be the real deal

I am inclined to think this 2 QB situation might just be the right approach going into FSU. If it causes them to change their prep for us even a little then it's worth it. One more thing, Cole Stoudt is one of "ours" and he didn't deserve to be "boo'd" yesterday. It was a sad moment for our program. Just my thoughts.

IMO, TB had a pretty good year in '11!
Just to play devils advocate I think most people would take half of the play book executed at a 9 than the full play book executed at a 6-7. That's really what everyone is arguing about.

Watson did play this offense in Hike Skool

so I will give him that much. I think he know more about the offense and probably less about check downs and reading defenses. I think this is where he will really need to grow.

Check downs and reads? The kid reads better than CS. that's great stoudt knows the playbook, BUT, CM isn't going to open it with CS. Sorry.
Watson is the future, and the future is now.

Watson has been in the same system for 4 years...

so he has an extra year on Stoudt on being in this kind of offense. When he has played this year he has not been limited, he has been able to do more than Stoudt.

I disagree entirely. Watson gives us a better chance to win

because he can move. Defenses must respect that, so it makes more running lanes and allows for some passing options. They don't have to respect Stoudt keeping the ball much.
Also, Stoudt is a like a statue waiting to be sacked, and we don't pass protect very well. Even SC State had guys leaking through on most pass plays giving pressure.
There's more involved than just knowing our offense.
