They're slow, they take bad angles to the ball, and they don't tackle very well.

Clemson has a legacy of the big, tall, lightning fast Frisbee catching dogs but IMHO Renfrow is hands down the most valuable receiver on the teams he played on and would have held that honor on any Clemson team he played on. He was a 3rd down machine. Almost always open and always on the business end of the down marker. No doubt we would have beat LSU if he had been on the field.

While he didn't have blazing speed...

he ran great routes, he excelled at finding seams in defenses, and he caught pretty much everything that was thrown to him.
What's not to like !?!?!?

just barely as fast as he needed to be in a given situation. Sometimes, that was VERY fast.

What do you mean not great speed. he's an NFL receiver. The NFL wouldn't take anyone without great speed. He just fools everyone into thinking he doesn't have great speed.

I'm not sure where I'd rank him in terms of how valuable he was compared to other receivers on our team while he was here, but there's no doubt he was a huge asset for us. I do think we obviously missed that 3rd down guy this past season, or just a short yardage route runner in general.
His ability to not only avoid drops, but get open, be where his quarterback expected him to be, and also make low percentage catches such as the low thrown balls that were barely off the ground were greatly missed last year.

What he did at Clemson can't really be replaced. I just think based on what he did, what his niche was, he was the best receiver during his time there. The only other receiver I can think of with a similar role was Wes Welker in New England. Renfrow was a master at those dump passes for juuuust enough yards for a first down. I'm convinced if he had been on the team we would have beat LSU. That's debatable I know but I can't think of another receiver you can even make that claim about.
