and felt sorry for himself when a freshman beat him out for the QB job. He made the choice to leave. He didn't have to.
Now, if he had left the team because he couldn't physically play any longer due to injury or something like that, then IMO he would be due a ring.
But he VOLUNTARILY left - it was his choice.

I agree that it was no controversy and I am one that was surprised that he was not given a ring. Rings are a reward and a privilege, but they are not a right. It seems that people these days have trouble delineating between the two.
