That statement right there caused the coots to hate Steve more than him getting drunk and quitting in the middle of the season. That statement went through their hearts like a Ice Spear, and it melted their dreams of becoming somebody in the SEC, and they will never again give Steve the credit due for him taking their team to places they had never before been. They will recall those years without ever mentioning his name!!!

now just hold on guys. we can respect Spurrier's abilities all day long- that guy knows football and winning far better than most. liking the guy?! let's be honest, he always set himself up to be the biggest jerk in the room and he knew how to win that too.

No coach has caused me more personal grief.

First Clemson football game I went to was in Durham in '89

I grew up a Washington fan so when he was actually coaching a team I liked, well, it wasn't really his fault for the post-JKC skins stinking but still, caused me more Ls.

And then being a 2006-2012 Clemson student.


Still, if you asked me for my top-3 coaches (not including Clemson coaches) then he would be on the list and if given the choice, I would pick him #1 (normally Spurrier, Bowden, Beamerin that order).
