Winning. #23 vs #21

Oct 19, 2012, 9:26 AM

#21 has 10 tds and #23 6 but to be fair, we've given hot rod 5 tds that could have gone to Ellington. I'll take #23 all day, every day.

NCAA Division I-A Player Rushing Statistics - 2012

#38 Andre Ellington att:116 yds:597 Avg:5.1 Long:68
#39 Marcus Lattimore att:129 yds:584 Avg:4.5 Long:43

Latty has played in one more game as well.***

Certainly different kinds of backs.

Ellington is faster. Lattimore is stronger.

If SC had the passing game that Clemson did, he'd probably find it easier to gain yards, because the defense would be opened up. In reality, Lattimore is more often than not running into defenders at the line of scrimmage and has to get yards anyway. Offensive lines are probably pretty even.

I'd take either one and be happy.

On this subject only, why can't both fan bases just agree that both of these young men are well rounded human beings that just happen to be great football players. It really doesnt bother me to compare any of the other players, just seems both these guys are above that. Niether of them appear to be selfish in any way, and they both would say the other is a great running back.

Well, you can agree with that and still have a fun debate

Oct 19, 2012, 9:52 AM

On which back is better, without it getting personal. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Two different teams with two different schemes. Tough to compare statistics when each team plays different opponents. I think both teams have exceptional athletes on both sides of the ball, and will put plenty of them in the NFL.

Hope that helps.

I agree. Hard to argue just based on stats.

Which is the point of my original post above.

It's just funny how some fans completely change their opinion on a player based on where they go to school. Clowney and Lattimore both were looking at Clemson at a point, and everybody loved them. Once they chose the rival, then the "he's a moron and will flunk out, and they bought him a car" and all that crap comes out. Crazy how the decisions and performances of 18-22 year old men can dictate attitudes of some.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah. One reason I don't pay attention to recruiting.

Oct 19, 2012, 10:05 AM

Some fans seem to take that stuff personally.

I would take Lattimore before his knee injury, but I think Ellington is better than post-injury Lattimore.

Because we want to beat them at EVERYTHING***

I'd take Ellington in college, Lattimore in the pros

Oct 19, 2012, 10:54 AM

Ellington is great for our offense and the college game, he is quicky and shifty, but I dont think he could take the beating of 20-25 carries a game in the NFL. I think Lattimore has the build for it but he seems to get pretty banged up every year. Not sure if he is the same after the Knee injury either.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Very few RBs get more than 20 carries a game in NFL anymore***
