Not sure why it’d end after him. No offense but he was always more of a popularity figure than winning driver. People follow trends, there will be another one. Not taking anything away from him, amazingly nice and gracious with fans. But top level driver he wasn’t

Yes he only had 26 wins. That isn't top 30 all time or anything. No he is not on some of the greats levels. He was still a winning drive and one of the best ever at restrictor plate racing.

While Dale was popular, the young guns replacing him will probably win more races and championsships. Won't be the "blue collar" good ole boy raised on a "mill hill" you'd like to hang w/and drink a beer.

Bill Elliott son will probably replace jr as most popular. But, unlike Jr, Elliot will win races and championships imho

Not really. Ralph(grandpa) never made it big and Dale Sr never made a lot of money 'til he hooked up with Richard Childress and by then Jr. was grown, so didn't grow up with money.

Not really. He was born in 1974. Earnhardt sr. did not begin his Nascar career until 1975 and only ran 9 more races in Nascar during the next 4 yrs. He ran short track stock cars and had been married 3 times by the time Dale Jr. was just a toddler. Hardly a life of wealth. Dale sr. was a hard ### and never gave Dale Jr. an easy life. Dale Sr. had grown up poor and was stil pretty much living from paycheck to paycheck up until he started driving for Richard Childress in 1981, who was just getting started as a team owner who was never a great race car driver.

Plus, many of the drivers who enter races aren’t there to try to win, but to help someone else on their team win or pick up a check. Given that, it seems that NASCAR’s popularity is that it reminds people of a simpler time. As long as there are some drivers left who don’t completely ruin it with their douchey personalities (looking at you, NFL and NBA), NASCAR will be fine.

When they abandoned southern tracks, changed the car to a basic platform, let advertisers run the show, and crated teams that block other racers, it lost me. What is the interest now? No more race on Sunday, sell on Monday aspect for car models. No more country boy trying to make a living. It's corporate douchiness at its peak. I hope it blows up and gets reincarnated as a more grass roots endeavour.

All my friends and co-workers go to lake or football/Baseball games on Saturdays and Sundays, instead of the Races.
Myself, I have never really been a fan.
To me, NASCAR is like Boxing--a "has been" these days.
