How likely that Deshaun can really be effective at GT

When we play GT, it will have been 2 days less than 5 weeks since his surgery. I broke my right index finger (different place than Deshaun) my senior year in football. I had the doctor cut the cast off and tried to go back three weeks later and broke it again and was out the rest of the season. About 7-8 weeks (estimate) after the second break (basketball season) I could not shoot a good jump shot which is largely done with the fingers. I had to push it with my palm (ineffective). It was about the third week of basketball season before I had good strength and use of the index finger. I did not have screws and I'm sure his medical care and rehabilitation is much better than mine was. It still makes me wonder if Deshaun can play and how effective he can be in throwing the football. Also my physician friends tell me it sounds a little early but they aren't orthopedic specialists. I trust the staff but being able to play and being able to play effectively are different issues. I trust the Clemson doctors and Clemson coaches but that doesn't answer the question of whether he will be operating with significantly diminished capacity. It would not surprise me if Cole ends up with significant playing time at GT.

If you pulled Cole out last night for Watson then there would have been no need to put him back in the game. His confidence is already shot, that's why he's pressing so much now. He hasn't looked like the same person since he lost his starting role. I'm sure it's effecting his entire life.

of FSU and that was before he lost his starting job. He's a great kid, he's done a great job this year, he's been a good leader, we are lucky to have him and he has save our #### this year, but he is not pressing because of losing his job. He is just not that naturally comfortable back there. And it doesn't help that he has to operate behind our offensive line. He is playing the same way now that he played in the first half of FSU and the Georgia game.

Yeah Im sure the doctors are mistaken and dont know anything. Maybe you should be the team doctor and head coach . Or better yet you could move to cootlumbia and teach the coots how to not blow a game. And teach the rest of the delusional coot fans when its appropriate to leave the game lol

Watson did not break a finger. He broke a bone TO his finger in his hand.

I broke the same bone but on my pinky finger. I think mine was slightly more severe than Watsons because I had a little more hardware put in (rod, 2, plates, and 8 screws). I had a similar splint to what Watson's was described as, But I think his biggest issue will be gripping the football. At least that was my biggest hurdle and 2 years later I still don't have full strength and mobility in my finger. He will probably have some pain when he gets some contact but as far as reinjuring it is concerned it will more than likely be stronger. Long story short he will probably be a little uncomfortable but he can play. His biggest problem will probably be the ball feeling a little different in his hand due to the lack of strength in that finger.

order for our staff to see if our defense can contain GT.
If so, then they may believe Cole and Co. may be able to put up enough points for a win. That would reinforce my belief that they are erring on the side of caution, regarding DW's return.
Then again, that's just an opinion...and we all know what that's worth. lol

if you saw the pic of watson's hand then you know there was no way he could have played Thursday night at wake. that was coach speak to make wake prepare for having to face him possibly. they are giving him more time to heal but imo he will not see much playing time, if any, unless that swelling goes down and he is able to grip the ball. also, you know the jackets will be trying to strip the ball and hurt the hand. will be interesting to see how it plays out, but I think they are trying to get him ready for the coots and hope they beat gt without him.

I agree. DW shouldn't play until he is healed and ready.***

My daughter broke her non- throwing hand Sep 13th

Playing travel ball. Had a cast on for 3 weeks. Rested 2 weeks and then played Oct 25th. It was a moderately ugly break. So Watson would have had the same amount of time with significantly better care from the staff. Hopefully they used electrical therapy to build up the calcium deposits.
So if she can do it he needs to suck it up.

Unfortunately I do not think he plays at GT

His hand is still swollen and Chad even said Nick would be playing if Cole was too hurt. His injury was far worse than most broken fingers because he broke it at the base where it meets the hand. That spot has a lot of tendons and the swelling we are seeing is not good. That is also the biggest pressure point when throwing a football.
Seeing that swelling makes me think he will be rested until we play the coots.
