How does Monte Lee as HCIW sound? One more year w JL?

Jun 2, 2015, 10:44 AM

Charleston friend of mine said he herd this down there today.

Seems logical

I still want Schlossnagle from TCU though.

I also think he would be a great hire.***

I agree but I'm not sure any of the top prospective coaches would play second fiddle to anyone for a year.

Re: How does Monte Lee as HCIW sound? One more year w JL?

Jun 2, 2015, 10:58 AM

I recently spoke with a local HS coach, is well know and respected amongst his peers told me it was Monte Lee's job to turn down. He also said that Corbin and Sully were on the list, as they should be, but would be long shots. He also spoke highly of the HC of Louisville. He had no bad things to say about Jack and pretty much remains neutral between the two state schools. If it's going in a different direction, so be it. If it's sticking with Jack, he's going to have to get a new staff except for maybe one retention.

I want what's best for CLEMSON. GO TIGERS!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Anybody that thinks we can fire Jack Leggett

Jun 2, 2015, 8:27 PM

And then hire Corbin or Sully are just idiots. Both of them are his great friends. Both were in his wedding, Corbin was his best man. Get real.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

First of all, I doubt Monte Lee would agree to that....

Jun 2, 2015, 11:04 AM

Second, that scenario has the potential to cause more harm than good to each program particularly from a recruiting standpoint.

If you have to ask, people here can certainly explain it to you, but it is unlikely that you would ever understand.

Re: Really !?!?!?!

Jun 2, 2015, 3:57 PM

College of Charleston's program is in much better shape than Clemson's right now. And he's gone as far there as we have since he's been a head coach. He's already been there for 7 years. Clemson is probably not nearly the draw that you drinking the kool-aid think that it is for Monte Lee.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dude.....

Jun 2, 2015, 4:52 PM

take your head out of your a$$ !!!

From a faciities, fan support, and tradition standpoint, CofC isn't anywhere near the program Clemson is and it's really not even close. Only an absolute imbecile would even remotely attenpt to argue anything to the contrary.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's just insane

Jun 3, 2015, 6:05 PM [ in reply to Re: Really !?!?!?! ]

the biggest frustration i have with this whole scenario is how clemson fans have lost their minds and can't see anything objectively. Clemson advanced in the 2006 tournament as the #1 seed, ending the "good times of Leggett's baseball tenure." i keep seeing the Nine year downturn over and over, and i can agree that the last nine years have not been great, last 2-3 been very average and i can completely agree that a change needs to be made.

But looking at facts (and knowing clemson "should" be better than CofC, based on history). I would in no way shape or form would trade the last nine years at clemson for what CofC has done. I can even agree that Lee has done a better job with resources than Leggett has done during the same time period, but looking at the overall picture Clemson's Program is light years ahead of CofC. (and that DOES not mean i don't think Lee would be a good choice to follow Leggett.)

Since 2007
- Clemson 8 NCAA tournaments, Charleston 4
- Clemsson 3 Supers (one CWS), CofC 1
- Clemson 19-19 overall record in NCAA's, CofC 8-8
- Clemson attendance Always top ten (at least tickets sold), CofC not so much despite building new baseball facility in 2001 and renovated in 2007. Player facilities have been equal at best, with Clemson finally moving forward with renovations for this season)
- CofC has one conference title, Clemson 0 (both won in 2006)
- College of Charleston is 1-8 against Clemson (again, during our so called worse nine time period and CofC's best).

keep an open mind folks, we all want the best for the Tigers, but lets not let that get in the way of reality.

ALL IN!!

TCU coach

Jun 2, 2015, 5:39 PM

No way on the TCU coach. This dude is a total ###### that will not get along well with the High school coaches. I have inside knowledge from their dugout. No way on the VCU coach either, one year wonder. Monte Lee is the answer. Corbin and Sully are not leaving Vandy or Florida.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What about Pawlowski? Now a pitching coach.

Jun 3, 2015, 6:15 PM

Bring him back as pitching coach and coach in waiting. Seems doable to me, but we must fund the program with competitive salaries for HC and assistants, and level the field in all the other areas.
Otherwise, we can forget it!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Didn't he do really poorly at Auburn though

Jun 3, 2015, 6:36 PM

may be a case of great assistant and pitching coach, but not a very good skipper. Also could've just been unlucky or made a bad assistant hire at Clemson-without-a-lake

Re: How does Monte Lee as HCIW sound? One more year w JL?

Jun 3, 2015, 6:17 PM

I think this speaks to why it is such a difficult position for D-Rad. There's no way we get a head coach to agree to HCIW and I think most the names that get tossed around on here are longshots. I do think we could get Lee but it's far from certain and may take a salary higher than what we currently pay Jack.

Just don't see Monte Lee coming. Didn't he turn the Arizona job down last year?

I have a close friend who's kid is committed to play for the CofC next year. From what I hear he's pretty content where he is. He's got a strong class coming in and looks to be better next season than this one.
