How do you rate the best Netflix original series?

Feb 3, 2020, 2:18 PM

Ozark, Stranger Things, and Peaky Blinders are all I have watched I believe. Any other great ones in there?

If you're fine with subtitles, Dark is my favorite

Feb 3, 2020, 2:22 PM

along with the three you mentioned.

Re: If you're fine with subtitles, Dark is my favorite

Feb 3, 2020, 2:37 PM

You gave me another one that I enjoyed. It took place in the mountains of France. I just dubbed the English in though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can you remind me which show that is?

Feb 3, 2020, 3:26 PM

The one that took place in the mtns of France?

Another suggestion is The Witcher. It's not Game of Thrones, but it's fun enough I thought (also has the required amounts of violence and nudity).

Re: Can you remind me which show that is?

Feb 3, 2020, 3:53 PM

Black Spot. I guess I should have said hills of France and not mountains.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ah, it wasn't me that suggested it.

Feb 3, 2020, 3:59 PM

Never seen/heard of it, but I just looked it up and it sounds interesting. So, thanks for the recommendation!

;)

Yeah I see that highly rated, but I cant take that leap.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Watched it on the heels of Friday Night Lights

Feb 3, 2020, 2:51 PM [ in reply to Bloodline probably my favorite ]

...kept expecting Tammy to show up instead of that other chick. LOL

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

speaking of original. The Timothy Oliphant Zombie

Feb 3, 2020, 3:01 PM [ in reply to Bloodline probably my favorite ]

comedy was probably my 4th favorite. Forget the name offhand. Fast watches too since only 30 minutes each

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg2005_majors_champ.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-xtiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Orange is the New Black was way

Feb 3, 2020, 2:25 PM

up there. I have still never seen a show leave pop culture as fast as that did.

I guess its how you define "original" - in many cases

Feb 3, 2020, 2:35 PM

Netflix buys a serious that at least started on another network and labels it "original" which seems a bit disingenuous.

I'd say House of Cards (first few seasons), Orange is the New Black (season one), The OA, and The Crown (season one) are my favorites.

You has been pretty good so far

Re: How do you rate the best Netflix original series?

Feb 3, 2020, 2:55 PM

Stranger Things and Bloodline are my 2 favorites. Ozark is close behind. 13 Reasons Why is melodramatic but is actually pretty entertaining

The Frontier is criminally underated. Fur trading business

Feb 3, 2020, 2:56 PM

in 1700s around Hudson Bay, Jason Mamoa doing Jason Mamoa things and breaking lots of shid and generally farkin people up. Costumes and sets were amazing, sucks it only went 3 seasons.

Re: Where do you shop?

Feb 3, 2020, 4:58 PM

I shop at Whole Foods, sometimes Publix, some local fish markets, and a local butcher, and I go to Costco. I don't get things shipped to me and I only buy enough for 2 days max at a time.

Of those I have watched 5 Came Back and I watched Wild Wild Country. Both were really good.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You mentioned many I had forgotten that are great

Russian Doll
Haunting of Hill House (can't wait for the
Maniac
Marianne
Godless
Wild Wild Country
Black Mirror (I've only seen the first season, as the series depresses me too much)
Mindhunters (boo to probably not getting a 3rd season)

I'll especially call out Russian Doll, Maniac, Mindhunters, and Dark as the 'must see' of the ones I see (and have seen) on your list.

Just finished watching The Stranger (only one season so far) and it was really good. It’s British and the writers did a really good job of surprising you throughout the season.
