How are our players staying in shape?

May 20, 2020, 11:41 AM

I understand that the coaches/football program have issued workout and nutrition routines to them, but where are most players actually working out, lifting weights, etc.? I wonder where/how TL is keeping his passing game sharp?

Have any facilities on the campus been opened to them at all?

Probably the same way Bulldog stays in incredible shape. Thousands of pushups and crunches every day.

If you pay for The Athletic, their GT beat writer wrote an article about the workout regimen for players without access to weights. Their program involves loading up a book bag and doing high rep lunges, squats, bridges, rows, ect. I tried it on Monday and it took about an hour and half to complete.

Pretty sure campus buildings are closed ...

... except for construction crews and maintenance (physical plan employees).

Campus is open for walking, jogging, etc.

we were able to send players "rubber bands" for resistance type workouts. S&C staff stays in close contact with inventive/old school type workouts.. like lifting buckets full of sand, using things that are readily available to them. i would guess most kids have some access to weights at their homes or the home of someone they know. IMO, the bigger question for all schools is not HOW they are staying in shape, but IF they are staying in shape. not to sound "holier than thou".. .but our culture prob helps us here. think we have the kind of kids who will be self motivated.

Their moms have them moving furniture, getting stuff off top shelves, bringing in groceries, taking out trash, washing windows, waxing the car, sanding the floor, painting the fence...

Hey, it worked for the Karate Kid.
