CBB's contract

Posted: Feb 20, 2016 6:15 PM

we may be with CBB until towards the end of his contract. If he doesn't perform again next year, the buyout would still be 3.5 million. Even if have go NIT next year, I bet he is back the following year. The way his contract is setup I think we will be locked in until the 2019/2020 season. I just don't see us buying him out for 3 million even if he is just similar to this past season. I think we may get better and he may end up doing a great job moving forward, but I think the talk of firing might just be unrealistic. Would we really eat 3 million?

Depends 3 mil is not a ton of money if you're putting a strong product on the floor and recruiting at a high level. The question will always be can he recruit at a high level. Clemson can be strong in men and women basketball if the university makes a strong commitment. Just a few years ago we struggled against Wake in football and now look at us. We entered the arms race in football and just played for a National title. I think the attitude around here should be why can't we be great in basketball? That's my 2 cents.

How about waiting until the end of the season before posting this crap?***

Brad Brownell: all-time winningest coach in Clemson men's basketball history, and only coach to beat North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Why wait?

It states in the post that we still have a chance and the season isn't over. Moreover, people are talking about wanting him fired. The topic relevant to what people are posting. Some of us can walk and chew gum at the same time.

Because it is coot level classless. If that is who you are then go ahead.

Or you could just post it on the football thread.

Who does DRAd "think" he can get to replace CBB?

The more certain or higher confidence, then the more willing to buy out.

Decision likely 1 to 2 years out.

I think we will keep CBB for another few years ..

We aren't bad this year. We won't do bad enough to fire him and pay that buyout next year either. Hopefully, we're just awesome next year and it's a non issue. It wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Hopefully start recruiting at the level ....

Of FSU, NCSU, Miami, Pitt etc

Not likely to match the big boys but need more skilled players.

the wall. You are correct - buying him out, while probably the right thing for Clemson mbb, is unlikely. We don't have the $ for that.

Hahahahaha

Need to play it out ....

think this team could win the ACCT IF everybody "shows up" ... can't stand around and watch JB do everything like during the KJ era

I think..

we can win out on the regular season and win a game or two in the ACC tournament. That would be huge. I think that would silence just about every critic.

The way they are playing they could very easily lose the last 3 games.
UVA is going to be tough we know that and GT at home could be bad.
BC will give us all they have, they don't won't to go winless in the ACC.

Nothing will surprise me with this team...great or bad.**
