10 Reasons LSU will defeat Clemson
Dec 6, 2012, 5:15 PM
|
|
1. M&M's - Mingo & Montgomery are the best combo of ends in the country. They are as fast as running backs and will wreak havoc against the spread offense. It was hard to stop Clowney against USCe. Now you have to stop 2 fast defensive ends.
2. Les Miles in Bowl Games - Miles is 5-2 in bowl games and the 5 wins came in domination fashion. The average score in a bowl game for LSU that Miles has coached: LSU 30.71 Opponent 15.43
3. Dabo Swinney in Bowl Games - Dabo is 1-3 in bowl games at Clemson including last years train wreck. The average score in the bowl games Dabo has coached at Clemson: Opponent 35 Clemson 25.25
4. Georgia Dome - The Georgia Dome has been kind to LSU. LSU is 9-1 in the Georgia Dome including a few Chick Fil A/Peach Bowl victories.
5. RB Depth - LSU will play 4 running backs against Clemson. Hill is a freshman who will get the bulk of the carries and came on strong halfway through the season. Ware is a power back who is a nice receiving threat. Ford is the speedster. Hilliard is a power back who has become leaner and faster.
6. Special Teams - By now you have seen Odell Beckham's punt return against Ole Miss. We also have the best punter in the country in Brad Wing. Be ready for the fake or he will run 45 yards for a td against you.
7. John Chavis - Chavis has a month to prepare for this Clemson spread attack. He will have it dissected and neutralized by the time the game is played.
8. Mettenberger - Mett had a slow start to the season, but Alabama game on he tore it up. He developed a real chemistry with the receivers and made team's have to respect the passing game.
9. Kevin Minter - Minter was an unknown commodity nationally before the season started. He has blown up though and is one of the leaders of the defense. He has better stats in most categories than heisman finalist Teo.
10. SEC owns the ACC - The last week of the regular season had 4 sec teams defeat acc teams. The SEC continually dominates the ACC in bowl games and the regular season. ACC teams just aren't built to compete with the sec.

The fact that Clemson lost to a team that LSU beat (while they still had Lattimore and were playing better) makes me feel good too.

Not living through other teams there chief. You and your boy brought up West Virginia in the Orange Bowl so we asked if you crossed the 40 yet. It's that simple. Your offense is going to need to show up on the 31st, I don't care who we line up on defense, that was #### poor. If you move the ball like you did against Alabama last year (meaning not at all) then you will lose, and it won't be that close.

0-2 against LSU...
Both games played in Bowl games including the 1958 Sugar Bowl in which gave LSU their first National Championship.

Welcome to the board Bayou.
You made excellent points and we have little evidence to prove you otherwise.
However our team is on the rise and we hope to give you a good game on new years eve.

I will personally bet you money that you "ends" cannot out run our running backs or most any running back.....
Let's line up those ends and have a race.... I'll bet you the running backs will win.
Clowney didn't have an impact until late in the game when he knew we were passing virtually every down.

a lot of that stuff has nothing to do with this game...

Especially 2, 3, 4, and 10. #10 might be true this year, and maybe even most years, but it isn't true every year. I would hope that LSU fans live off their own team's success rather than riding the coattails of the SEC, like our brethren to the southeast.
On Mettenberger, I've seen your fans claiming he really stepped it up towards the end of the season. His numbers are better than they were to start out, but they're still not great.
I also see that LSU has rarely run for more than 140 yards this year. Clemson has actually played pretty good run defense lately, so that may be a key to the game.
Really, the only point you mentioned that matters is #1. Yes, Mingo and Montgomery are good, but they don't have the number of sacks combined that Clowney has. They're better run stoppers than pass rushers. So the dynamic may be different than it was with Clowney.

You sounds like a stat geek. If you haven't watched LSU play, then you don't know how good Mett has been lately, and you don't know how good our running backs and running game are.
You have to realize our defense gives us a lot of short fields so our yardage stats aren't going to be great.

Actually, your offensive yardage is fine. What I'm curious about is how your defense has given up so many passing yards lately without giving up a ton of points (except against Ole Miss, which is kind of inexplicable to me).
Of course, I wasn't impressed with Florida at all and they rose up and beat an FSU team that should've pounded them.

Two reasons Clemson might win: 1) Like Tennessee in'04 LSU just doesn't want to be there. 2)Like Carolina vs UGA, Clemson is abl ( really they have to)jump out to a big lead then weather the storm.
If Clemson is trailing at the half, ball game over.

there's a bunch of reasons why Clemson should win, actually
Dec 6, 2012, 5:46 PM
|
|
- Clemson's offense is prolific and there are weapons all over the field, while LSU has struggled to score at times.
- LSU has given up a lot of passing yards against some bad teams in the last few games.
- LSU has not run the ball well with a few exceptions.
- Mettenberger has been inaccurate all year.
Now, Clemson has clear advantages at QB, RB, and WR/TE. LSU has the clear advantage on defense. But what it will come down to will be whether you can turn Clemson over and pressure Boyd, and whether your offense is able to hold onto the ball for long periods of time. That's how South Carolina won, and it's how LSU will win if they do, in fact win. If Clemson moves the ball like they did against a very good FSU defense, then Clemson may win easily. If Clemson's defense is on the field all day because the offense is out of rhythm, then LSU could win easily.

I surrender, please tell me what I must do next. I give up no hope at all. You win no need to play the game. I am old enough to remember the '59 sugar bowl, Billy Cannon, "white team", "go team", "chinese bandits", Paul Dietzel. How many yards did Cannon have that day? How many yards did Johnny Robinson have that day? Warren Rabb could not finish the game. Had Clemson center not grabbed a handful of grass when he snapped for a punt. Clemson would have never lost that game by 7 points. Paul Dietzel came to south carolina and we owned him until he gave up and left. You know what, you sound like a frightened fan trying to pump themselves up. Get your ticket, get a seat, and watch.

Everyday I grow more confident
Dec 6, 2012, 5:55 PM
|
|
to here LSU and ESPN, Clemson has no shot and should just stay home. Watching Clemson throughout history tells me we thrive when no given a shot. Also Morris also has a moth to get ready for your defense and he isn't the highest paid OC in america for nothing. This is where he earns his money. Also we have some pretty darn good talent on offense this year. Also we get back two CB's which is huge so that they don't have to play every down. Clemson OLine has something to prove and I don't see Dalton Freeman going out like a punk.
#1 is how many of your players will be suspended? Mettenberger is back in Ga where he is a rapist, so better keep him locked up. Also keep being over confident

10 Reasons Clemson is better
Dec 6, 2012, 6:15 PM
|

1. Been to both. They are on par. 2. Neither do we, we just win. Also, how do you think you guys randomly started getting 5 star recruits 3. And what has that gotten you? 4. Already graduated 5. hahahaha. I have never seen an independent stadium ranking that puts Clemson's ahead of LSU's 6. Neither am I 7. What else is Clemson ranked in the top 25 in? I found a ranking by Forbes where it was ranked 218. Also went through the top 50 of the US News Rankings and it wasn't there. 8. Thanks? 9. So did I. 10. Geaux Tigers

and when we land Montravius Adams, Alexander, Ogundeko and Lawson, we'll be top 10 again, so all the 5 star have graduated? Watkins, Peake, Steward and Anthony are all soph and all 5 star, Boyd is a junior and a 5 star.

1) They are good in NO way are they as fast as Clemson's skill players. Ellington, Hopkins and Watkins are faster.
2) Not relevant unless Miles has the exact teams and opponents.
3) Not relevant see point two. Past performance not an indicator of future performance.
4) Again not relevant. If this were a term paper, your four principal points are worthless and weak so far.
5) I don't see how this means anything? So you have 4 running backs that will play?
6) I would put Clemson's place kicker as a factor ahead of LSU's punter
7) Both team's have a month to prepare for each other, again a neutral point
8) Average QB at best, certainly weaker than Clemson's
9) Ok point conceded
10) Dumbest farging statistic ever, because Wake loses to Vandy.....LSU is better than Clemson. C'mon
Next time you try to use logic in this game analysis, try this. LSU has far superior front 7 than Clemson's offensive front. Unless Clemson can establish a run game, life will be very hard for Boyd. Secondly, Miles is a much more seasoned coach with big game experience, while Dabo is still learning to coach. LSU wins this game 8 of 10 times at a neutral site, but not for the non-cogent thoughts listed above.

John C. had a month to prepare for Clemson in the 03 Peach Bowl when he coached #6 Tennessee...and Clemson proceeded to hand him his lunch. Not saying Clemson will win by any stretch, just saying that Chavis's schemes don't scare me as much as the talent at his disposal does.

Stats favor LSU. However, I bet Oregon St expected to be 3-4 Washington in late October and Nebraska expected to beat Wisconsin last week. Thats why you play the game.

Just 1 crawfish? That wouldn't really fill me up. Also, boiled crawfish season doesn't start for a few more months.I would have to get an etouffee or a bisque in order to eat crawfish, and it would certainly have more than one.

I mean OBVIOUSLY guys. Come on. I mean after all, they are an SEC team. We lost, in fact, if I understand how it works, LSU will be given an honorary National Championship Actually, every SEC team will, because they are SO GOOD no one could ever possibly beat them, even NFL teams.
