Just a reminder

Sep 4, 2018, 3:51 PM

All abortions are already life threatening because it always involves murdering a baby.

The government should not have the power to tell a woman what she can do with her own body.

I am morally opposed to abortions, but it isn't my body and I don't think government should have that kind of power any more that it can tell you who you can have sex with.

It is not the place of government to enforce peoples religious beliefs.

the position they do on this. On one hand, all life is valuable and must be protected. On the other hand, that baby you can't afford to take care of that I forced you to have? None of my tax dollars are going to support that thing. You shouldn't have gotten pregnant in the first place.

But then I remember all the people that use veterans as an excuse to be outraged by football players kneeling for the anthem, but don't actually care about the 50K homeless veterans on our streets in the least. The picture starts to come together.

Most of you don't actually care about fetuses. Some guy in church said you should, but if you can't think critically about what a life actually is, then you live in this impossibly stupid position. So, tell us...is a sperm a "life"? An egg? Why not? A fertilized egg? A fertilized egg implanted in a uterine wall? A 1 week old clump of cells? A what point does it have a soul? At what point do you mourn the death of that clump of cells? 3 weeks? 7 weeks? Does a 12 week old fetus carry the same value of life as a breathing, out-of-the-womb human?

Sep 4, 2018, 4:16 PM

When he was there, there were many other babies who weighed less than a pound. Many were on medicaid and had Hispanic last names.

As viewed my son in the isolette, and saw also the other tiny lives, I couldnt help but the think about the callous statements and immoral attitudes of those on the left would believe its OK to kill a young child.

And for the record, I'm a member of a liberal mainline denomination.

I think you underestimate the comprehensive understanding...

Sep 4, 2018, 10:09 PM [ in reply to I've given up trying to reconcile how "conservatives" hold ]

of the Bible which most Christians have. A verse which most Christian people know and understand well and is part of the fundamental teachings of Christianity.

Jeremiah 1:5
5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

All three of your statements are your presumptions of what others think. You couldn't be more mistaken.

For one, I don't think most conservatives think that

Sep 5, 2018, 1:52 PM [ in reply to I've given up trying to reconcile how "conservatives" hold ]

For another, it's not hard at all to reconcile that preventing killing somebody doesn't commit you to financially supporting the person whose life you saved. That this would be hard for anybody to understand just speaks to how ideological and partisan the issue has become. You want to dismiss what you feel compelled to acknowledge because you don't like the crowd you think you'd be put in if you let yourself acknowledge it. What's more, you're trying to insert an irrelevant poison pill.

And that's not even getting into the problem with Roe as constitutional law.

This will be interesting...

Sep 4, 2018, 5:56 PM

Might play out this way:

Abortion is sent back to states to decide.

Republican states, which generally speaking, are some of the poorest states, will make abortion illegal. People with money, regardless of party, will either have the baby or go to a state where abortion is still legal. So the end result will be the poorest people in the poorest states having more babies. Probably a recipe for chaos but, oh well, we need to legislate morality.

Now obviously the cost of welfare will increase in these states. So maybe we let the states make the decision on welfare too, no more federal handouts free loading states. Now the people with money in the poor states can stop providing for the poor, which is drastically increasing in numbers, because people aren't going to stop fck1ing. This will lead social chaos, rioting, and a general break down of society in these states.

Meanwhile, states with abortion will see the beauty of Trumps border wall and redirect the money saved on supporting welfare in the poor states to building walls between their state and the poor states.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let me simplify your point for you....
