Heisman Buzz on XM this morning

Nov 28, 2016, 10:27 AM

is about if DW has a huge game against VT like he did against USCjr he may win the heisman trophy. Jackson isn't playing this weekend and has terrible stats in November. Only thing that will hurt Watson at this point is early voters.

I think it is hilarious that you can vote for an award before the season is over. The games that matter the most, you know the ones at the end of the season where you truly separate the men from the boys in terms of nerves, performance, championships, etc., are not factored in to one's decision if they cast an early vote. So they should call the award the best player in the league through week 10. So dumb. Also the cfp committee should determine the winner, not the bozo writers who vote for the closest person regionally for selfish, personal reasons. Lost interest in heisman trophy after CJ wasn't even invited to the top 5. DW will finish 2nd, while the winner is on the couch for the post season. Will likely be the first 3 loss team to have a heisman trophy winner because he played awesome for the first 2 months.

RG III won it for baylor when they had 3 losses

That said, I'd take Watson as our QB over anyone else, and Lamar's silly video game numbers have to be seen in context of him NOT winning the big games, and him being left in the game much later in blowouts to pad the stats.

I don't disagree that the voters shouldn't be allowed to vote early, but there have been a few 3+ loss Heisman winners in the past. Albeit, not nearly as often recently

Here are the Heisman winners whose teams were .750 or worse

2011: RGIII-Baylor (10-3) (9-3 before bowl)
2007: Tim Tebow-Florida (9-3)
1998: Ricky Williams--UT (8-3)
1987: Tim Brown--Notre Dame (8-3)
1980: George Rogers--South Carolina (8-3)
1970: Jim Plunkett--Stanford (8-3)
1969: Steve Owens--OU (6-4)
1965: Mike Garrett--USC (7-2-1)
1961: Ernie Davis--Syracuse (7-3)
1956: Paul Hornung--Notre Dame (2-8)
1950: Vic Janowicz--Ohio St (6-3)
1939: Nile Kinnick--Iowa (6-1-1)
1937: Clint Frank--Yale (6-1-1)

Oh yes, George Rogers...lost 3 of 4 to us, and never scored!***
