Have to ask...How is Segra Park in Columbia a "Neutral Site"

I understand Flour Field is MUCH Closer to Clemson but it was definitely not a Home City. It was usually 60-40 Clemson. If SCAR wants a "Neutral Site" game, give them Charleston or Augusta (Both of which would have a Gamecock lean. It would be equivalent to throwing the Neutral Site in Central or Seneca.

It's absolutely not a neutral site. Segra is basically Coot Field North. It's all of 13 blocks from the Hippies in the Trees Horseshoe (yes, you'll literally find them hanging in camping hammocks in the trees of the horseshoe). Playing at Segra would be more like having them come play at the old Pendleton armory's baseball field.

I don’t understand how that’s a slight.

I get that it’s not in SC, but it would be the best facilities and closest thing to a neutral site.

It’s certainly not a neutral site but in all fairness it’s probably the right move to keep an even playing field across all 3 major men’s sports.
Baseball : Capons get 2/3 at home. Adv Capons
Basketball : home and home. Adv even
Football : Clemson gets the capons at home every year seeing as how Dabo holds the lean on Willy B. Adv Clemson

I don’t think we’ve had a home and home with SC in basketball since the Cliff Ellis days

I was thinking one year in Columbia the next year in Clemson , rinse and repeat, was considered a home and home. I guess that’s what I get for thinking.

Gamecock play by play guy said that the tickets were split

50/50 with the two schools. Not sure if he is right. By the way I switched to listening to them because I was so frustrated with Quak. With their guys you can see the game in your mind's eye. They were actually very complementary of the Tigers and very critical of the Gamecocks...they were calling it like the teams were playing.

I agree... I thought Kip and that lady announcer were pretty impartial. The only bit of homer-ism that I sensed was how frustrated Kip was with their pitcher.

Clemson shouldnt have ever agreed to this. It is absurd. Go to CHarleston or Myrtle. Let other fans in other parts of the state see them play

Will make the sweep that much sweeter. They will have had two of three in Columbia and still could not get the job done.

This is a very unpopular opinion but I refuse to complain about the neutral site game. For the last several years all they’ve done is complain about the game being in Greenville close to Clemson. It was laughable and excuse making. I won’t do the same. It IS a neutral site game. They never play there. It doesn’t matter if the fans are 60/40 or 70/30. It’s about familiarity with the playing field. Especially the mound for the pitchers. I could be wrong but don’t minor league mounds sit up higher?

The “Neutral” game should rotate throughout the state ( incl Augusta) each year with a sprinkling of ATL and CLT once in a while for recruiting exposure. The “series” format / travel is the excuse for why we end up with the non-neutral situation. It’s not like SC is the size of TX for travel purposes, so this should be easy.
The neutral site should be about the fans who don’t / can’t frequent the usual games.

Just play at Wrigley Field. That would be neutral. Then I could go to the game.
