What to do in Omaha?

Mar 20, 2018, 10:16 AM

I dumped all of my frequent flier miles into plane tickets to Omaha for the Sweet 16 (this is one difficult place to reach by plane from the West coast). Now, what does one do for entertainment during spare time in Omaha when the College World Series and Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting aren't in town?

Sirius replies only please.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Thanks. Keep the suggestions coming.

I was going to hang out in Gorat's Steakhouse looking for Warren Buffet every night. I've got a great business plan I want to go over with him.

I would just head over to BH HQ. It's a fairly small staff,

you should be able to get in to see him.

If you see Warren tell him old Joe21 is not a greedy sort, just one share of his stock would be a nice gift for my 97th birthday.

I've been a couple of times for the CWS...

Mar 20, 2018, 10:25 AM

Other than eating, drinking, and watching the games, the options are somewhat limited.

Try Gorat's Steak House. Johnny's Cafe was pretty darn good too.

We did make the hour drive over to Lincoln one afternoon to check-out the University of Nebraska.

Mar 20, 2018, 10:28 AM

I wonder how much an Uber from Omaha to Lincoln would run me.... I didn't rent a car!!

Is the site actually interesting to visit when the CWS isn't in town?

Our favorite steak house in Omaha is The Drover. Ask if they still serve their whiskey prime rib. It wasn't on the menu.

the stadium where the CWS is held

Mar 20, 2018, 12:39 PM [ in reply to Have a non silly jokey question... ]

is not to far from the airport. You will drive around it just getting around in Omaha - but no, there is nothing to see when the CWS isn't in town.

I have to go to Omaha for work sometime and all I can remember about it is that it was a lot colder than I imagined it to be. And it is the only place I have ever met someone that said they have never been to the beach.

Louis M's Burger Lust is a must do

Mar 20, 2018, 1:17 PM

The Drover is one of many great places for a steak.

Great dive bar with live music - http://www.lookoutomaha.com/

Novelty retro video game bar - https://beercade.com/

A bunch of breweries - Infusion and Zipline tend to top most lists.

If you like craft beer - Krug Park, Blatt Beer & Table, Library Pub

There are also casinos a short drive from Downtown.

Working on creating a mobile map of things to do in Omaha for Clemson fans. Added Gorat's and Louie M's burger Lust to the map. Keep the recommendations coming and I will add them to the map! Enjoy the game.
